Secret of Mana, Sonic 2 on PAL Virtual Console this week
As a Christmas treat to its impeccably-behaved PAL region fans, Nintendo of Europe unveiled this week's Euro/Aussie Virtual Console offerings early, and holy crap it's Secret of Mana. Square's classic three-player RPG has been available in Japan and North America (in Virtual Console form) since September and October respectively, and will make the trip to PAL land on Boxing Day. The toys we excitedly unwrap in front of our parents on Christmas Day morning will be swiftly cast aside!
Less thrillingly, Secret of Mana will be joined by the Master System version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2; and because this is essentially VC Friday on a Tuesday, you can see footage of both beyond the break!

Secret of Mana is good, but it's one of those games I just never beat.
I think it's because you're forced to start charging all your attacks towards the end of the game, it gets annoying.

Does somebody remember if Secret of Mana lets you choose in which language you want to play the game?
If not, when I change the language settings of my Wii to UK and English will I be able to download the english version?
The german translation was horrible :P

SoM sucks. I assumed that I couldn't really go wrong with a SNES Square RPG so I didn't bother checking out any reviews. That was a huge mistake. The only good things about this game were a variety of weapons that could be upgraded and decent music. The boss fights are either frustrating or boring, the world map is a fuckin joke that may as well have just been left out, the story is pretty bland, the sprites for 2 out of the 3 main characters looked like shit, and the menus are a hassle. Also, this is one of those RPG's where the party members visibly follow the leader around like Chrono Trigger or Earthbound but unlike those games, SoM decides to let the party members choose their own path instead of directly following the leader which results in many frustrating walks back to the other side of a wall or building or stair case to retrieve your brain dead team mates. This is one of those games that a lot of people love while people like me are left dumbfounded by the thought of someone enjoying this shit (kind of like Legend of Dragoon). So that's just some advice (+ rant) to help anyone out in case you planned on buying this solely based on the fact that square enix RPGs are usually good.

I would recommand people look for Seiken Des 3 (Secert of mana 3) - Can only get it as a rom since thye never released a translated version.
Its alot better story, gameplay and diifficulty. 6 Unquie charaters and with 3 diffrent endings.
