New Play Control! New-ish boxart!

The packages for the Japanese Play on Wii series feature the original boxarts for the GameCube games framed in a new white border, with a blue bar at the bottom explaining that the games have new Wii Remote-based controls. According to teensy preview images found on GameStop.com, the North American New Play Control! versions of Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis, officially announced just yesterday, will employ the same strategy. As in, exactly the same.

The only difference (aside from the language stuff and the fact that the North American boxart images are used) is that the Play on Wii boxes feature a curved top border in the blue area. If we're lucky, the covers will be reversible like the Japanese ones. We probably won't be that lucky!

We have yet to see the box designs for the European NEW PLAY CONTROL! series. We'll keep you updated, because we love pointing out that the European title for the series seems to officially be NEW PLAY CONTROL! in all caps.

Same here. I even mention a little tid-bit on my Club Nintendo survey, for MP3, to do the same controls for the Wii-makes.

Metroid Prime and Wind Waker. That's all I care about.

If the covers aren't reversible, I'm sure somebody will make a new cover and distribute it on the internet for people to print.

I'm excited about this series, but that name is incredibly irritating. New play control sounds like a terrible engrish translation. What was wrong with Play on Wii? Did some asinine marketing executive decided that somehow the convoluted title would help the game sell? Hopefully we get the reversible box-art so I don't have to think about it. Ugh.

Anyone know what these puppies are going to cost? I'm not paying more than $20 for a change of controls. But considering these two games are the Big-N's only releases for first quarter I wouldn't be suprised if they set them at $50. Q1=bane of my existance!!!

This reminds me of Castlevania: Dawn of Souls with its horrible budget boxart.

I'm fairly interested in these games, with the exceptions of Pikmin, which and Metroid Prime 2. I might get Pikmin 2 on Wii if they release it here, but I already have the first one. As for Metroid Prime 2, I keep getting lost because it doesn't tell you where to go and most of the places look alike and the map sucks, but I've heard MP1 doesn't have that problem as much.

Are you still playing it?

If you really need to know where to go, just check your map, and look for any doors that you haven't opened yet. It's as easy as that. If you've opened all of the doors, explore, and about fifteen minutes in, if you STILL haven't found where you need to be, that's when Metroid Prime 2 will throw you a hint (it'll tell you the exact room you need to go to, for crying out loud).

Give it till Torvus Bog before you give up on this game. Agon Wastes wasn't quite as awesome as some of the areas in Metroid Prime 1 but Torvus Bog just feels right, especially when you get to the hydrodynamo and the Super Metroid music starts playing. And don't even get me started about Sanctuary Fortress.

I was always able to get where I needed to go, but it took so long as to become boring. Additionally, the back and forth between the two worlds is time consuming, and only makes me get lost even more.

I may give it another try eventually, but I'd probably have to start over, since it's been a while since I last played and I can't remember what I was doing when I left off.

If they do re-release MP 1 and 2, I hope they do 2 things:

-Make the logbook system in BOTH work like MP3; you can scan 56% of things, then replay that same file and finish scanning the remaining 44%.

-in MP2, do SOMETHING about the boost ball guardian, at least one damn save point SOMEWHERE
