While some of us are hesitant to commit to Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (not because of questions of game quality, but for financial reasons, and concern for the safety of our Wiis), we are quite certain that some of you either
And we are jealous. We're getting by for now on YouTube combo demonstration videos, but it's tough going. If you're now a proud owner of a fighting game about obscure Japanese television characters, let us know! Was this your first time importing? And if you're holding off on the purchase (and you like Capcom fighting games), is it for the stated reasons or others?
The £ is in the toilet at the moment, so no import for me. I could order it in Euros, send it through the Netherlands, and have someone send it on to me here, but that's too much hassle for a Vs Capcom game. I'll go play Snk Vs Capcom instead, or Brawl. And seeing how it's bombed in Japan I don't foresee a localised version, ah well.
I imported it for my brother but now I don't think it'll be here by Christmas -_-;
My brother imported it for me along with Let's Tap and it'll probably be here before mine. I did cheap shipping because I thought it would be here by Christmas. My Captain Rainbow that I ordered at the end of November for $33 still hasn't arrived >>;
I was going to import this.. but I'm still not 100% on the whole homebrew thing so yeah.. I think I'm gonna wait. I don't think it will get a Western release but I'm holding out hope that Capcom one day ports this to PS3 - like they should've done in the first place.
I just want to let you know I was highly skeptical about doing homebrew as well as I've never modded any of my systems but in my experience it was super easy and I totally recommend it.
Homebrew is totally safe providing that the only thing you install is the Twilight Hack and Homebrew Channel. It is perfectly safe to just run things off of your SD card, as they don't tamper with your system. When you start using homebrew to change system settings and install channels etc. is when the bricking starts to happen.
Fortunately for importers, though, GeckoOS (the homebrew freeloader) doesn't install anything or tamper with your system. You just run it off the SD card and click "run disc."
Homebrew is awesome! Even if the only reason I got it was for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, which was totally worth the money, I now use it to emulate SNES, NES, Genesis games that have yet to come out on VC *Cough*earthbound*cough*. But if you are afraid of bricking your Wii don't be because you can skip updates. And there ARE ways of unbricking a Wii.
Honestly? I'll wait for them to sort out the licensing troubles and get it localized. It's not that i couldn't pick it up (homebrew huzzah) but i've got enough on my plate in the ensuing months, especially since my Corrupted GC Memory card put "replay through Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance" up on the top of my to-do list, after any new games of course
i picked it up a few days ago at china town NYC..it ran me 70 but its well woth it...THIS GAME IS GREAT. Plus i got a free poster and its my second time importing (first was dissaster)
I imported this game... and I'm loving it! If you are a big Capcom fighting game fan... this is a no brainer import title!!! It is not going to be localized... stop holding your breath... just do it! ;) Now I need a Wii Arcade Stick... or at least a PS2 to GC adapter... FUN TIMES!
Hey you! Yes, you looking the TvsC videos! Go and import it NOW! Its the best fighting game eva! its what the needed... Well i didn't import it but im playin it in the *cough*homebrew*cough* channel. If you don't want to "risk" your Wii import it 100% recommended (i'm not sure if it is recomended or another word... I don't speak english here :))
I imported this game and it was my first import ever! So obviously I was very excited buying my first imported game. The game is amazing, simply put. Yeah it was a bit pricey ($74.46 after shipping) but I figured this will be my Christmas present to me and lets face it, this game due to all of the Tatsunoko licensing issues will never make it over to North America in a million years. So to all of you pussies out there that are too "afraid" to do the softmod (ala homebrew channel) then too bad! Nobody wants to hear you're pathetic whining in this comment section so go suck it. No guts, no glory. The softmod is brain-dead easy to do as well, so there's no excuse for you not to do the mod, you would actually have to purposely try to brick your Wii in order to fuck it up, that's how easy it is, plus it literally only takes less than 30 seconds to do. So in summation the only thing holding you back from doing the softmod is that you're a total fucking pussy, nothing more, nothing less. Now man up, softmod it (you'll thank yourself), get gecko OS on the homebrew channel, import this game and enjoy yourself!!
Please don't wonder why sweet games wont be coming to the Wii in N. America from Japan when you're pirating them you fucking douche lick, support the developers and buy the game broke-ass!!!
My import copy is in the U.S. but I can't have it until Christmas. I already downloaded the movelists from Capcom's website and I'm very much looking forward to Christmas so I can play. I'm going to go pick up a Hori stick today, and also test my GC>PS2 adaptor with my Street Fighter Anniversary stick, to see if that will work. If not, I have a classic controller, so I'll be ok.
Well, i'm on hold till march, to see if they can work out the licensing problem. Else, i'll be importing it for sure, but for the time, I just played a little via the backup loader and man, its pretty suit.
A friend of mine is waiting for his import, lets hope UPS find their way to Mexico, xD, then, 'll be playing it there
I was going to wait, but I played it in the arcades recently and...well, it's on it's way now. I couldn't help myself! Hopefully I'll have it in a week or so!
I played it in the arcades last week and can't see myself paying the $60 the console version costs as I don't think I'd spend nearly that much in the arcade on it. It's a fun game but I'll stick with Street Fighter 4.
Playing fighters at home by myself would kind of defeat the purpose anyway; I enjoy the competition even if I get beat almost every time. So - arcade version: yay, home version: nay.
I'm holding out for now. I REALLY want this game, but the importing and hacking makes me sad. (Especially since I don't have an SD card or Twilight Princess)
Judging by how much I am watching videos, though, I'm going to end up folding and picking it up sooner rather than later.

Importing is so expensive, though. D:
A friend of mine has it. I will live vicariously through him.

"I'll wait for them to sort out the licensing troubles."
I hope you like waiting until the sun burns out. Or receiving a game with a lot of cut content, in the best scenario.
Mr Khan @ Dec 13th 2008 2:09PM
Well that's what i mean. If they sort it out, i'll be there to buy it, but if not, it's no great loss, with the kinda content that's forthcoming.

Just a side note... you don't NEED to "hack" your Wii if you have 3.2 or lower update on your Wii, just buy a Free Loader! Import away!
