Sega officially announces Sands of Destruction
We knew it was coming, but Sega finally saw fit to send out the press release announcing the North American version of World Destruction, called Sands of Destruction. The press release is even dated December 4! We'd love to know what happened to make Sega decide at the last minute to sit on the announcement for a week.According to the press release, Sands of Destruction follows a group called the World Annihilation Front who, in an attempt to free the world from the tyrannical Ferals, decide to destroy it, using the powers of a kid named Kyrie Illunis.
The "voice system" seems to have been dubbed the "Quip System" in the US release: characters can enhance and change their status in battle by saying "inspiring battle commands," which are found throughout the world and equipped by characters. It's a game about trying not to save the world, in which you battle by talking! All they need in order to totally break JRPG tradition is to put a very friendly, outgoing person in the lead who remembers his childhood just fine.

Hmmm... geez, the predicament is already as confusing enough as it is.
Also, I'm lost on what to expect...

Waiting for a whole year?! Dammit, I hate when that happens... Localization always takes forever... =/

Editing now. The PRESS RELEASE is dated December 4, 2008, even though it was sent out yesterday.

Thanks for the update, but either way, other gaming sites state the release as "Fall 2009"... Way too long, in my opinion. :(

I'm waiting since it was announced for japan (I still have the first trailer on my PC)!!!!!
But why changing the title? Now it sounds like a prince of persia game :s
World destruction sounds cooler, but I'm still waiting for this!! It will be awesome, with the great team that worked on it, it can't fail.

lol. kyrie doesn't seem to have any blond spikey hair so its looking to do just that! plus....his name sounds girly! sega's new JRPG tradition: male leads with girly names! let the legacy live =P

I've already seen the anime, but I'm not sure if they follow the same story, but I think they do. If I'm not mistaken, Kyrie was a nice guy and goofishly so. In the show he never fought and only did kind things. I really don't know what he'll be like in the game since he actually has a weapon.

Always with the RPG snark here, I swear to god. It's impossible to tell if you people even like the things. First off, I can hardly think of any amnesiac RPG heroes. Second, I can think of plenty of outgoing ones. Thirdly, "lol research," Kyrie is very, very outgoing himself.
Anyway, wtf is with the name change? It sounds stupid...Did they think "World Destruction" was too negative for pussified Americans? e_e

I don't know if this is aimed at me or DSFanboy, but either way, it was a harmless little joke. you need to relax. >____>

I PM'd Sega of America in YouTube in regards of the World Destruction Premium Sound Track, and I got this response:
"The game will not have the same CD available for pre-sell, however the community team (that's us) will look to get some of these for contests or giveaways. Not exactly sure how this will go down, but we'd announce this through our forums or blogs if it came up:

I am not making this up.
