Chrono Trigger time travels to PAL regions in February
The speculation is confirmed: Chrono Trigger will be appearing in all PAL territories on February 6th. Square Enix sent another 15 screens along with the announcement this morning (just in case you've never seen Chrono Trigger before) which we have dutifully uploaded here. Hey, we've waited thirteen years already for this happy day, so what's another 57 days?Alas, rather than fill this Brit blogger with joy, this news has merely reminded me that my import copy is still in the mail. Gaaah. Europeans and Aussies: did you wait, or cave and order a U.S./Japanese version?

I played it ages ago on the SNES already, figuring that if they wanted my money, they would have released the damn game by that time. This was several years ago.

I mean SNES emulator. I want to be able to edit my comments. :(

The aspect ratio in Chrono Trigger DS is all wrong. On the SNES version, it was rendered at 256x224 (8:7) to be stretched by the TV to 4:3. The artwork was designed around this. The DS version uses the same sprites, and simply crops the screen to the 4:3 aspect ratio of the DS. The end result is that everything is slightly taller than it ought to be.

Eh, the slightly tallerness doesn't phase much, though now that you've mentioned it, the sprites seem kinda vertically lanky. Guess it pays off not to've delved much into CT before now, eh?
So, think SE will go the way of FFIVA, FFVA, and FFIVA, or will the spelling variants sneak in for the ofikal UK premiere? I know to expect more "u"s in DQV, whenever that hits $20 (damn you, Amazon! couple this with the DQIX push in the article after this, and... jeebus, just so long as faces aren't too squinty, 'K?).

That's a day before my birthday!
Maybe despite the Squeenix tax, I can get it as a present or something.
