Please, for the love of all that is good, give us Earthbound already!!! We need some good games for VC other than the handful of what we currently have. First post!!!
esposch @ Dec 10th 2008 7:29PM
It's not just Earthbound I want,
I want Fun Smashing and Milennium Cross!
It's been "some weeks while PC is broken" for about 3 months. When will the dev release a beta!
Avoli @ Dec 10th 2008 8:36AM
I completely agree. That has to be one of the top 3 wanted games since VC was announced. Maybe they're making changes again to it? Putting in the litle thins they took out? Not that it should take much time I would imagine.
GIVE IT UP!!
Donald @ Dec 10th 2008 8:53AM
Every Monday I run to Wii Fanboy to see if Earthbound has been released, and every day I'm disappointed.
I'm holding out hope that it's the big Christmas-week release.
AceRadd @ Dec 10th 2008 9:21AM
To be honest, I wasn't really a big fan of Earthbound. I liked the humour and stuff, but couldn't get into the gameplay.
Recently played the translated version of Mother 3 though and loved it (definitely one of my top favourite games ever).
As far as I can tell, there were only small tweaks to the actual gameplay, but it benefitted so much from it.
MowDownJoe @ Dec 10th 2008 9:23AM
Yes, please! My EB cart finally died over the summer! I need my fix!
Hughesmar @ Dec 10th 2008 9:28AM
I'll never understand all the praise this game gets heaped upon it. I never had a SNES when I was a kid so I guess I missed out. Can someone explain why Earthbound is so awesome?
PJ812 @ Dec 10th 2008 10:29AM
I don't know, most of the people that praise it so much like it for the nostalgia I guess. That doesn't mean it's a bad game (it's excellent) But I think the reason that most people like it is because of the way it's not like most traditional RPG's in that instead of dungeons and dragons like most rpg's,it's modernized with stuff that a regualar kid would do.
All in all,it's a great game if you like RPG's but the fans do kind of give it tons more praise than it deserves, but still give it a try.
I gave up waiting for this on vc and just made a wad inject during the summer, nintendo will never put this on there.
SoshiKitai @ Dec 10th 2008 11:45AM
It's just REALLY QUIRKY.
That's what makes it awesome.
Roto13 @ Dec 10th 2008 12:36PM
Elitism. Nobody bought it when they had the chance but now all of a sudden it's a wonderful, beautiful game that only the most hardcore of hardcore gamers actually played.
Pro tip: Earthbound hype is full of phonies.
PJ812 @ Dec 10th 2008 1:14PM
@ Roto13
Like I said, the game is quite over hyped, but IMO it's still a good game with excellent games in it's series.I personally, played this game for the first time about a year or two after it came out and I still enjoyed it then.
It may not be as good to you,but that just means you like different things.Even if some people still think that you aren't a "gamer" until you've played it,people should still give it a chance because unlike you people may actually like it as much as the uber-fans
Roto13 @ Dec 10th 2008 1:29PM
Apparently you're reading a comment I didn't actually make. I never gave my opinion on the game itself.
PJ812 @ Dec 10th 2008 1:47PM
Oh well, just assumed since most people I know that enjoy the game don't think they are all that cause they played
it.Sorry if it seemed like I was purposely trying to put words in your mouth.
hellhammer @ Dec 10th 2008 2:24PM
People like EarthBound because it's exactly the same as every other great SNES RPG, except totally different.
Let that sink in...
Seriously though, it's an RPG set in a pseudo America in the 1990's, where you eat hamburgers out of the trash and you beat up cults and a giant Barf.
It was very unappreciated in the US at it's release, but the humor and character development within the storyline is pretty amazing and visuals are very colorful and unique as well.
If it is released on VC, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.
Santos L. Halper @ Dec 10th 2008 10:30AM
Seriously, what the fuck is Nintendo holding out for? Go to any vc site and this is usually the most wanted vc game. For some reason they'd rather release a bunch of obscure TG16 games that nobody will ever download.
CypherVR @ Dec 10th 2008 2:21PM
I agree.
Ryan @ Dec 10th 2008 10:50AM
This is my most wanted game on the VC. I missed out during the SNES days, but all of Earthbound's obsessed fans have convinced me that I need to try this game. I also check every Monday and end up disappointed every Monday. It would be nice if they could send Mother 3 over at some point too (and perhaps Mother while they are at it).
Mr Khan @ Dec 10th 2008 11:06AM
Was it re-rated as a Wii title, though?
Perhaps they're holding out for some other purpose, like a compilation game...
TJF588 @ Dec 10th 2008 1:43PM
MOTHER 1+2+3 for NDS, pls.
...or EarthBound Zero, EarthBound, and EarthBound [whatever they'd call SSBB's biggest cocktease inclusion], for NDS.
Also: a DS Player for Wii (look at FFCC: Echoes of Time's Wii version; just do that with different screen layout options; definitely include the DS as a (if not THE) controller option, though).
Roto13 @ Dec 10th 2008 3:49PM
A DS player for Wii makes no logical sense whatsoever.
colbent @ Dec 10th 2008 12:07PM
i do
Eccentric-Servbot @ Dec 10th 2008 1:16PM
Agreed... this needs to come out already.
The fact that Nintendo hasn't released something thats going to get them a gazillion dollars in nearly all-profit money is confusing...
I WANT MY EARTHBOUND!
Crazylink @ Dec 10th 2008 1:24PM
I hope I'm not the only one that would much rather have Majora's Mask.
If you wanted you could just use the homebrew channel to play Earthbound perfectly ("assuming that you own the game").
PJ812 @ Dec 10th 2008 1:48PM
Or this =]]]

CypherVR @ Dec 10th 2008 2:17PM
Stop hoarding nintendo, just stop.
ThomPorke @ Dec 11th 2008 8:30AM
I have a Japanese friend who plays all the Mothers and won't stop rubbing it in my face. Reggie is such an asshole for this, and I'm not downloading anything off VC until we get some form of Earthbound over here (GB if you were wondering).
NintendoBrad @ Dec 10th 2008 5:15PM
I purchased this game off eBay for around $60, and I can confirm that this game is indeed worth the hype. It's just incredibly charming. There's hardly a dull moment in EarthBound, and right when you wonder if the game can throw another awesome moment at you, it does just that.
I'm near the end of the game now (only two more melodies to collect) and I'm finding myself NOT wanting the game to end. I hardly feel that way about a game, ever.
This game NEEDS to be put on the Virtual Console, as soon as possible. More people need to experience this game.
joey @ Dec 10th 2008 6:13PM
it will probably be a Christmas present!!!!!!!!!!
narF @ Dec 10th 2008 9:53PM
Me too! I want it so bad!
(sorry, my comment isn't very interresting but I just wanted to add 1 to the comment counter)
masterchief2398 @ Dec 10th 2008 9:57PM
I like the Christmas idea, but I have a better idea...its going to come out on EARTH DAY (some time in Apirl, i have no idea what day...)!!!!!!!!!!!
Scott Sparr @ Feb 4th 2009 7:22AM
Earthbound is the most amazing and worthwhile game I've ever played in my life. No other RPG nor any video game has equaled it as of yet, in my eyes.
