Rumor: March 22 release for Pokemon Platinum [update]
Our Pokédexes have sat idle too long for our liking, but now new light may have been shed on the North American release of Pokémon Platinum. While the game has yet to emerge in its non-Japanese form on Amazon or GameStop's site, Circuit City just listed the title, and apparently caught a release date in the process: March 22.Naturally, this shouldn't be considered official yet, but a six-month gap between the Japanese and North American versions of a Pokémon title is pretty much the norm by now.
Update: Looks like Circuit City pulled the listing, but it was definitely there, we SWEAR. You believe us, right? *puppy dog eyes*

Ridiculuos ... Anyone remember the time before gold game out in english there was a team hacking the rom to make it english. Was done about 3 months before Nintendo/Gamefreak got their acts togetter.
Where are those guys now?

The English patch was released the DAY AFTER the Japanese game was released. Do a search for it on youtube.
You'll find a video with Download in its title.

Heck, here's the direct URL to the patch.

Isn't this the same as the other two?
Nintendo should use other strategies aside from the 2 normal versions and then a 3rd special one.
And they should stop adding m,ore pokemons, I only remember until the silver-gold ones, wich is probably where pokemon reached it's pinnacle, and then it's innovation went down the hill, with only adding 100+ pokemon in each generaation.

I believe this game features better 3D environments, different forms of certain pokemon, as well as Online integration in the Underground.
The last alone makes it worthy of looking at.

I could swear I remember Circuit City declare bankcrupty earlier, soo...I'm not so sure about the rumor.....but of course kinda looking forward to it.
I think Matias is right, it kinda peaked at G/S/C; ruby/sapphire/emerald was ok.... I liked some of the new ones, but most are lame....
A game should only go through so many sequels/expansion before it becomes dull....

Better than the April 9 date which was faintly rumored.
I really want this game *rocks in fetal position*
I haven't played any of those games since Silver.

Circuit City has already pulled it. Plus as mydestiny points out, Circuit City is likely not to exist on March 22.
That said, my eight year old is excited. He's not too happy with us that he is having to wait for Christmas for Shadows of Almia.

I like to think I patron the "third games", though I never did have my hands on Crystal (c/mon, DSi, make a Virtual Handheld!). Glad to see some dates thrown around 'bout Platinum, though I'm still bummed at Emerald remaining at full retail price (WTF, Ninty?); whenever I can get my current Gardevoir (and/or its clones) into peak shape, I'd totally like to trade it over the a new game pak (heck, if I can find Pokemon Box, that'd be even better).

You didn't miss much. I learned the hard way as a kid that another $35 for a free shot at Suicune and the Battle Tower mode wasn't worth it. At least it was a third save file for the best series in the Pokemon franchise (G/S REMAKES NOW NINTENDO)

Emerald seems to be both highly sought after and rare. Though I don't know why, I managed to snag a brand new copy at the Player's Choice price (24.99$ is fair for Pokemons), but shortly after I picked it up it vanished. Now I see people selling it on CraigsList for huge prices, people asking for it on CraigsList offering huge prices, EB charging 50$ for the cart only, and other madness.
Jeebus, not only are Diamond and Pearl still being at full retail price, but the prices have actually been going up over time. I've been seing the games for as much as 60$ on store shelves. Now that's avarice!

A week after my birthday is very sweet.

It's strange. I consider myself a lapsed Pokemaniac, having only been marginally entertained by R/S and downright bored and disappointed by D/P, and yet, I still have this urge to play Platinum. I know that there can't possibly be enough extra content to reverse my opinion of D/P, but I can't shake that old instinctual urge to play every new Pokemon game that comes out.
Maybe it's the grinding, the gym battles, and then the postgame with the meticulous breeding for good IVs and the creation of a killer team--it's all too familiar to pass up for too long. I've been wondering if I've been replacing the emphasis on the timeless fun with unrealistic expectations for the franchise to be shaken up and remade somehow, so I can't help but keep an eye on Platinum for the time being.

Cmon, nobody thought to take screen captures?
I'm disappointed in you, internetz
