Two Rocking Tatsunoko vs. Capcom videos
We don't have to wait until Wednesday for this week's Tatsunoko vs. Capcom video update, thanks to the intrepid fan who found the file on the Japanese website and uploaded it to YouTube. We'd say this fight, featuring Rock Volnutt and Rival Schools' Batsu vs. Hakushon Daimao and Hurricane Polymar is exceptionally wacky, but pretty much every battle is exceptionally wacky, thanks to the hyperspeed gameplay and the cartoon cast. We'll just have to wait until Wednesday for new minigame screens.
A 4Gamer interview linked in the same NeoGAF thread as the Rock video brings slightly bad news: there aren't any unlockable characters. So the roster we've seen is it -- no Dante, Gene, Captain Commando, Strider, Trojan, or Chip 'n Dale to be found.
As for the one still-secret character -- the final boss. If you don't want to be spoiled by seeing new, higher-quality footage of this character in action, do not click past the break. If you already have, don't scroll down past the gallery. But if you do decide to check out the footage, how awesome is that footage?

is it fair to assume that every last person on the planet would sacrifice this title in order to have Street Fighter 4 on Wii??
JC Fletcher @ Dec 8th 2008 1:02PM
It might be fair, but also spectacularly inaccurate.
Scotty @ Dec 8th 2008 1:06PM
Probably not fair...but I would absolutely agree.

*Signs as one of those people who your statement does not apply to*

I have zero interest in a Street Fighter game, but this gameplay looks like it might be fun and frantic. Besides, different games always have more potential than wanting a multiport to play on yet another console.

Hell no give me this not SF4, i love the character designs on this much more than SF4 (just bad IMO), now Street Fighter 2 HD that would be a hard choice even if the Wii can only do 480p, 2D FTW.
samfish @ Dec 8th 2008 3:41PM
I've played both games during the past week, and I can safely say that I would MUCH rather have Tatsunoko vs Capcom over Street Fighter *ANY* day of the week.
Don't get me wrong — SFIV is goddamn awesome...but I just thought TvC was in a league of it's own!
Thanatos @ Dec 8th 2008 1:58PM
Now this is released on the 12th right?

I really would love to have this game come to North America. I don't want to chip my Wii for imports or use the hacks. Its issues like this that make it hard for people to stay legit, but i do understand the rights issue for this title. Its surprising that this is an exclusive title but then again, Wii is leading the pack. I'd rather play this on my PS3 then my Wii - even with the classic control; I guess its just too bad for me.

Homebrew can do region free as well so no physical mods needed.
Cyber-Tyrant @ Dec 8th 2008 2:44PM
Darn it! I wanted to see someone from Kyattō Ninden Teyandee!
(Also known as Samurai Pizza Cats)
samfish @ Dec 8th 2008 3:43PM
No Gene makes me a saaaaaad samfish =(
But at least we get Viewtiful Joe and...er...that other character as the final boss, so that KINDA makes up for it.
Mr Khan @ Dec 8th 2008 4:23PM
I'm sad that nobody's said "look at the footage!"
TwEE @ Dec 8th 2008 4:31PM
So is it safe to bet this isnt going to make it to North America?
Thanatos @ Dec 8th 2008 5:13PM
Well the problem is licensing for Tatsunoko anime here in the states. A bunch of publishers hold the rights so Nin and Capcom would have to get permission from each one. So im thinking no localization coming. :(
GregZ @ Dec 8th 2008 9:51PM
Samfish, you've already played TvC? What's the skinny? You should post more detailed hands-on impressions.
Butters @ Dec 8th 2008 11:38PM
I'll hold out hope that maybe, just maybe, this will come stateside.
Once it becomes absolutely confirmed that the US is screwed on this one, then I guess I will have to learn how to install the homebrew crap and import it.
This game looks better than SFIV in my humble opinion.
padgon @ Dec 8th 2008 11:55PM
I want Megaman Legends 3 for the Wii. I might get this game only because Megaman Volnutt (Rock Volnutt) makes an appearance.
Eric @ Dec 9th 2008 2:11PM
I heard a rumor that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was in the works ... and it's gameplay is or is going to be based on a game being released only in Japan. If this game doesn't come stateside ..., maybe we'll see a MvC3 that closely resembles this game.
::Spoilers:: ::maybe::
Isn't the final 'sphere' boss the same end game boss from Okami? Did anyone else notice this??
