Wii was most desired eBay item on Black Friday
eBay issued a press release touting the rush of activity on their online auction site last Friday, in which they celebrated the success of consumer electronics auctions. The press release noted the items for which more people searched eBay than any other, and our favorite console topped the list. The Wii was the most-searched item across all of eBay on Black Friday, and 3,171 of those searchers paid too much for it (an average price of $349) by buying on eBay.
The second most-searched item was probably picked up by most of the same people -- Wii Fit sold 1,059 units at an average $140 price. Congratulations to everyone who "won" one of these items, we guess! Although it's kind of sad to think of all those people either getting rid of their Wiis or grabbing them from stores for the express purpose of eBay markup.

I rarely go into electronics stores, but over the summer, almost every time I walked into a Best Buy or Toys R Us, they had Wiis in stock.
I was going to buy a few and wait until the holidays to sell them, but didn't have the money to spare. Honestly, if people waited until a month before Christmas to buy their Wiis, they deserve to pay a premium price because they wasted a lot of opportunities over the past year to pick one up for themselves.

I went into a Best Buy in SF yesterday (11/30) and there was a huge pyramid of Wiis. Gamestop was also stocked with Wiis. I think some folks didn't want to go out last weekend to get a Wii in-store and resorted to convenience instead.

I found three at Target on 11/29, day after black friday. That's just what they had in the case, no idea how many were in the back.
Best Buy had several, too. Didn't count, but it was double digits.

Your "wiiBay" photoshop is actually good business idea: eBay should release free app for Wii owners to shop at eBay.
Given penetration of Wii in casual market, such app has a chance to catch up.

Nintendo wouldn't have it. You can use your own browser to do it. The truth is, it opens too many problems like kids creating bids with their parents accounts (you must be 18 to have an account) and the simple fact that people are buying used games results in Nintendo losing profits.
Now if they added regular titles to the shop, allowing them to be shipped to your address, it would be much more convenient and more profitable for Nintendo.

i remember calling all the local stores the christmas the wii came out. now its still hard to find. you have to be kidding me. i regret getting the wii. besides mario galaxy and sadly, wii sports, there is nothing i like on the wii. and i think i speak for most gamers when i say the controls get real old, real quick. i am sick of playing games where all you do is wiggle your hands around to do the same thing. so much potential and all third party developers put out is garbage. you all know its true
