Metal Slug 2 (NEOGEO, 1 - 2 players, 900 Wii Points)

Wii Fanboy says: do not download
This week, we've only got one new Virtual Console game to check out. But, thankfully, it's a pretty good one. It might not be recommended to download (9 bucks, ouch), but you all should find a way to play it, because Metal Slug 2 is good. How about Metal Slug Anthology, which is under $20 at most places, including Amazon? Yeah, we suggest that.

for those considering the download, i was reading that metal slug 2's later levels have a bit of slow down. Snk later fixed this in the remixed version of 2: metal slug X. ya might want to wait for that release.

One could debate that the use of an arcade stick, ie the Neo Geo Stick 2 or Hori Digital Arcade Stick, forgoes the higher price of the download vs the collection. I for one traded in my collection when I realized this. Was it a bad move, perhaps, but with the SNK Collection available (somewhere) and the Virtual Console both providing Metal Slug with Classic Controller support, I, and many others in my current situation*, think it was valid.
*Arcade enthusiast/collectors who have no room for an MVS or money for an AES. Playing with a Dpad is poor compared to a real stick. And lets face it, those MVS’s are tall and bulky, though cheap at auction ($400).
Granted you could argue that you could just use a Gamecube arcade stick. However there was only one decent one released (Soul Calibur 2) and hacking a 10k pentameter is far beyond most hobbyists skill level.
