Have kids, or maybe younger siblings or cousins? If so, it's likely that, sometimes, you play games with them -- but what to play?
The Brainy Gamer has a list of actually-good games that are also kid-friendly, and while this set is definitely a great place to start, we're betting you can add some more. Obviously,
Wii Sports will always be good family fare, but with the holiday season kicking into gear, we'll probably be playing more and more games with the family. So what do you choose?

I agree with the original article on his view of De Blob. Painting the drab city polychrome is a real joy that never ceases to lessen, a joy heightened when I saw it dancing across my sister's face. 'Whoa', she was like.
I'd add DDR and Boogie. The latter is a poorly made game, but it's that same poorness that makes the game more fun than it actually should be.

Mario Kart Wii and Wario Ware: Smooth Moves are usually very good for the whole family as they are very easily accessible for all (our parents are useless at games whereas all the younguns in my family are keen gamers). When the parents are gone we'll carry on with those two, but also Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Strikers Charged and sometimes (if someone has their GBA SP with them) break out the old Pac Man VS (the most underrated multiplayer game of all-time).
PS. I could do without seeing those cheesy "fake family pretending to enjoy Wii party-games" promo shots. Look at their cold, dead eyes! And what the hell is "Dad" doing on the right?! 'Wii Squatting'?! 'Wii Take a Dump'?! Why the hell would anyone play a Wii like that?!! You can imagine the Nintendo marketing droid behind the camera shouting "not casual enough dammit!"

False or not, they look a lot happier than you.
You bring gloom to that Mario Galaxy avatar of yours.

The worst part is NONE of them are using a wrist strap, and there's a glass coffee table between them and the TV! I can just smell the lawsuit.

My nephew enjoys Exite Truck even though he's not very good at winning he loves just driving around and crashing into things. On the 360, Burnout Paradise is perfect because they can just drive around the city and don't have to enter any races that they would probably lose.

AC is an obvious one; haven't played it on Wii yet, and I'm disappointed by the lack of innovation in the series, but it's definitely worthy.
Smarty Pants finally dropped to $20 on Amazon recently and I picked it up...it's the best trivia game on Wii and I have a lot of fun playing it with a few people.
Mr Khan @ Nov 23rd 2008 12:47PM
kids, especially young boys, seem to love Mario Strikers Charged
That at least is the consensus among my little cousins
ExternalFireInt @ Nov 23rd 2008 1:13PM
We'll probably be playing Wii Sports, WarioWare, the new Bond, Naruto: CoNR2, and Smash Bros, among others.
Char6296 @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:08PM
Well, Brawl and Mario Kart gets played by both of my siblings and I, while Metroid Prime Hunters is more of a my younger brother and I thing.
Sonic_13 @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:13PM
Wii Sports is always the most popular title, but this holiday season I plan on adding Mario Kart and Tetris Party to the gameplay mix with family.

We played Bomberman 93 to death when we got it on the VC. Never understood the appeal of bomberman until then. Brawl and Mario Kart are always good. We also tried playing Resident Evil 4 together, but since we already did that on the gamecube, I ended up just playing it alone.
pjsingh @ Nov 23rd 2008 4:06PM
My whole family likes to play Mk: Wii. However, only my parents and the adults dont like ssbb, only the kids do.
This is off topic, but why didn't anyone on this blog mention zelda: ocarina of time's 10th anniversary on Nov. 23? This may be wii fanboy, but it is NINTENDO wii fanboy
pjsingh @ Nov 23rd 2008 4:08PM
btw, its still nov 23, so its not to late (hint hint)...........

My 2-year old love Mario Kart. He laughed insanely when he found out that pressing A makes the driver peek back at him (oh, and start backing, but the peeking was the appeal).
I wish a wii ware devoloper would make a keyboard-basher type "game", where waggling or pushing any buttons make cool things happen. You know, shapes/coulors/music/letters etc would pop up. Not that I have a need to engage my son in videogames just yet, but he loves to play with the wiimote and it could be a nice way for him to get to be "in on the action" so to speak.
Stalin @ Nov 23rd 2008 7:38PM
gross. i hate how all Wii adverts show annoying people playing the games. it's kind of sickening, and almost puts me off the games they're advertising. only Japanese commercials can get away with being that cheesy.
simon @ Nov 23rd 2008 11:37PM
i just got "diego safari rescue" for my 2 year old. she loves diego on the DS so we'll see how she goes with this one :)
im waiting for the dora game. everyone wrote that game off but i tell you now, its target audience (i.e. 3-6 year olds) will love it.
John @ Nov 24th 2008 1:45AM
EA's Playground is actually fun to play as a family. We especially love dodgeball.
rouroniJohn @ Nov 24th 2008 3:02AM

the girl is...flailing her arms and the mom is

selena @ Nov 24th 2008 3:10AM
This holiday season I'll be playing Mario Kart and Smash Bros with my family.
Roberto @ Nov 24th 2008 8:27AM
Probably bowling, tennis and tetris if I can convince the older folks who haven't wii'ed to try. My money is on bowling if anything.
Daeseok @ Nov 24th 2008 9:40AM
Dora saves the Snow Princess will get my vote. (After all, USA today gave 5/5 stars on that one.) My four year old will love it for sure
