Bleach: Some People Fighting

We think we're going to have to start reading or watching Bleach so we know what's going on in Bleach Versus Crusade and the DS fighting games. Our interest in the DS games has been motivated mostly by love of developer Treasure, and that is certainly driving our desire to play the Wii game as well. But we can't help but think that it would be nice to know who all these people are and why they're fighting.

Even as a context-free fighting game, however, we think Versus Crusade looks pretty nice. You can see for yourself in the latest batch of screens, originally posted on the official site, but visible in a much less annoying Flash interface on Wiiz.

Most prominent in these screens are Rangiku and her captain, whose name eludes me at the moment

Rangiku is known primarily for her tits (and acknowledges this)

Must be further along from where the US is, though, as Uriu is using an ability i've never seen

Yeah, it clearly looks like they are further along since there are Soul Reepers using their hollow powers.

His name is Toshirou Hitsugaya. And yeah its definitely farther along then where we currently are as one of the playable characters is Nel Tu who is actually a fairly recent character that Ichigo, Uryu, and Chad met while heading for Aizen's base in Hueco Mundo.

I didn't even see Ichigo using his Hollow powers and I didn't see any of the Vizards. I take it you're looking at the Arrancars.

Toushiro Hitsugaya is Rangiku Matsumoto's captian.

And yes this game takes place way ahead of where the anime is currently at as it has the adult form of Nel (green rangiku) however I haven't watched bleach since the last filler arc started so they may have caught up a bit.

The anime is quite awesome, and there are manny fight pretty well drawn and animated, as there's also crappy ones, but there are already 2 filler arcs on the anime, the first is mere crap (the bounto one) and the second i came to like it (Captain Amagai and the Bakouttous arc) but really, just focus on the anime.

For me at least, this is worth learning how to region-unlock my Wii and import, because the game will take years to make it out of Japan otherwise. I see Neliel, Szayel, and Nnoitra's Resurrecciones, so this coincides with about where we are in the series (ep. 195). Considering that we're at about episode 90 or so in the English broadcast and there's a roughly half-year hiatus to catch up on dubbing (which should start again in a few weeks, considering that the last one started around episode 45), it's going to take three years or more for Adult Swim to broadcast what's being shown in these games. I'll just put the $20 or so I was planning on blowing on Shattered Blade after Christmas toward this.

But...they made Amagai Shuusuke a playable character? Filler arc guy? There had better be playable Bounts because of this or else.
