Atsushi Inaba talks MadWorld inspirations, Wii
A lot of things come to mind when looking at screens or video from MadWorld. Its visual style has been compared to Sin City and Running Man, to name a few. So, is this where creator Atsushi Inaba got his inspiration for the game?
"Of course we like Sin City very much and we have seen Running Man before but they are not the sources of our creation," said Inaba. "The concepts of MadWorld are 'visual impact' and 'over-the-top violence,' and these two themes run right through the game." Inaba also says it hasn't been easy for his team to accomplish the game's stylish look and feel, commenting that "all team members are constantly working very hard to capture the style we want the final game to have."
When asked why Platinum Games settled on the Wii, Inaba pointed to the "huge install base" and said his team is "really interested in the Wii platform" and "wanted to create a really cool and stylish game for that." Frankly, we're glad. Not just because we, uh, want to play this, but also because we're tired of the Wii getting the "it's only for kiddies" label. We're awfully tired of that, to tell you the truth.

I'm awfully tired of that label too, guys. I'm glad Platinum Games has genuine interest in the Wii platform, as opposed to just wanted to cash in. Of course, the large installed base will help them reach as many people as possible.
Funny how Sega's biggest and most interesting upcoming games aren't even created by them, but rather Platinum Games and High Voltage Software.

man who isn't tired of it!? i have arguments with my friend ALL THE TIME! he keeps insisting that the Wii can't do "core" games because (in his words) "the Wii isn't strong enough and lets face it the Wiimote doesn't change a thing if anything it makes the game less enjoyable" (which i COMPLETELY disagree with him on). look at the PS2!! he STILL plays with the PS2 and say that "the PS2 is still going strong and can produce some VERY HIGH quality games" (once again those are his words not mine). i swear he talks about me being to much of a fanboy and look at him! what a loser!

i have that argument a lot with people in my school, it usually begins with me playing dsdoom, and ends in an argument on how madden is the same thing every year

All nintendo fanboys have that argument. But, with the new core titles coming in 2009, we have an even BETTER defense. I've met so many xbox360 "gamers" with 3 games: Halo 3, Call Of Duty: World At War, and Grand Theft Auto IV. How can a group of people like that consider there selves "gamers" if they don't play anything besides shooting games? We CAN consider ourselves gamers, because we get titles like madworld and the conduit, AND SSBB, super mario galaxy, AND original retro titles.

Sweet
The install base really helps cushion such an ambitious project

I used to enjoy all kinds of computer games and tried a lot of them. Of course due to my talent to get bored very quickly I never finished them. So, after a while instead of playing them I started to keep myself informed on news, latest games publishings and all the stuff related to games. Now I can find all the games news and reviews on PC District.com.
