Mario Tennis: How to Play on Wii
We didn't really need help to figure out that Play on Wii Mario Tennis GC (or Mario Power Tennis, as Camelot's mascot tennis game is known over here) would use Wiimote motion controls, since that is, like one hundred percent of the point of the Play on Wii series (and Wii tennis games, for that matter). But we welcome solid information anyway, which Japanese online retailer Neowing has provided.According to the product description, Mario Tennis GC enables players to wave the Wii Remote to execute forehand and backhand shots and direct the ball toward the left or right side of the court. Motion will also determine the addition of topspin and slice spin. Buttons are still used to deploy each character's unique special moves.
If the (possible) second coming of Wii Sports tennis doesn't excite you, hang on to your GameCube version: Play on Wii Mario Tennis GC does not support GameCube controllers.

In the Gamecube game, I almost got it, but didn't buy it because on multiplayer they left out a big feature. In Doubles you could play with four real people right? On the campaign mode you had to play with a computer ally for doubles and it wouldn't let you do co-op!
If they fix that issue I will get it, if they don't, eh, I'll still consider it.

It's kinda weird that they didn't leave the GCN controller support in there. You'd think it wouldn't be that difficult to do. They'd just have to, you know, leave it there.

This is bizarre and overly controlling and typical of Nintendo. It would have been nice if they had figured a way for WiiMotes to work in place of GC controllers for all GC games on the Wii, but it's inexcusable that they didn't leave the support there for these versions. And am I the only one who is annoyed at having to restart my system when I'm done playing a GC game?

having this game on GameCube makes me feel really torn. Because Mario Tennis Wii is something i've wanted for a long while, but out of principle, I feel i should vote against this with my wallet
The one exception, obviously, is Metroid

why the hell are they not just making a new mario tennis. this gamecube to wii game makes the least sense out of the announced ones.

It would be pretty much the same thing. This is a good example of when a game should just be ported.
I say port all the Mario GC sports games instead of wasting time on sequels, unfortunatly its too late for baseball and soccer.
