Wii Warm Up: Wii Plan to Speak
The WiiSpeak microphone is ten bucks cheaper when purchased with Animal Crossing: City Folk. Obviously, it works with Animal Crossing, but it will also work with The Conduit, with the new version of the Opera browser, and on its own via the Wii Speak Channel. Of course, more compatible games will follow. We hope.It occurs to us that even people who like Animal Crossing, but don't necessarily care about catching up with their friends while fishing or shaking trees may have interest in the WiiSpeak mic for other stuff. Are you in that group? Did you pick up the Animal Crossing WiiSpeak bundle with no intention of using the two items together?

I saw the bundle and ten bucks cheaper for the peripheral is cool. I dont know if I would use it for Animal Crossing but heck! Ill try it once. Though how awkward would it to be actually HEAR the people I talk to during game night? lol...

I don't see myself buying this until I game I'm interested in uses it (there are currently none on the horizon, though). But I'm hearing reports (can't find out if it's true or not) that you can plug in a headset and use that...which is very cool, if true.

Hmm... for $30 ($20 with AC) I don't see much use I'll actually get out of it. I mean, I have to be on the Wii at the same time as my friend I wanna play with, which is unlikely with our busy schedules unless we purposely time it that way, which means we might as well be using the phone or IM or something. And, to be honest, I don't know anyone who seems that interested in it. So I'm gonna have to pass; too much of a gimmick for me. 1) Headsets feel nice, 2) Nintendo Wii-Fi Connection is nowhere near the level of XBox Live, and just isn't suited to a microphone yet.

Depends what the Animal Crossing Reviews say

I'll pick it up when The Conduit drops, not before
leonus11 @ Nov 17th 2008 3:29PM
i second your opinion. once the conduit releases i'll be picking it up. just hope there won't be alot of obnoxious people on NINTENDO WI-FI CONNECTION.
Roto13 @ Nov 17th 2008 11:47AM
I probably just won't get one at all. I don't like talking to people over the internet.
ZombiePikmin @ Nov 17th 2008 11:54AM
I got them both. I recommend getting the bundle, its so much cheaper and Animal Crossing is a must buy.
And go to the overlords pre-gamenight this Wednesday.

:D
What's your Friend Code?(Advertise Pre-Game Night, everybody! :P)
SoshiKitai @ Nov 17th 2008 1:00PM
I got two bundles. (one for me, one for the gf)
:P We love AC.
And I'm not sure why so many people are against it. It's not even offensive in any fashion. (Maybe that's why people are so offended by it. XD)

I'll buy Animal Crossing with Wii Speak, but if the in-game use of it is anything like the commercials I have been seeing, I probably won't be using it very often.
Drahken @ Nov 17th 2008 3:56PM
I reserved the game at (ugh) GameStop and when I picked it up today, I noticed it didn't come with Wii Speak, which I had assumed it would. When I inquired about this, the guy barely knew what I was talking about and told me that they, "didn't get that bundle." Thanks a bunch, Gamestop.
