PETA Flash game puts us off Cooking Mama, food
Ready to be sick? Coinciding with the release of Cooking Mama: World Kitchen, PETA has wielded the Awesome Power of Copyright Infringement to make a Cooking Mama Flash game about the preparations involved with cooking turkey. Combining an impressively accurate facsimile of Cooking Mama gameplay with horrifying, bloody visuals, Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals is intended as an appeal to Majesco to create a vegetarian-only version of Cooking Mama.
In Mama Kills Animals, a sadistic Cooking Mama guides you through the process of defeathering, preparing, and stuffing a turkey. Between levels, the game presents horrifying facts about the meat industry as well as videos we didn't dare watch. Apparently, at the end, Mama reforms and becomes a vegetarian.
In case you didn't get our subtle hinting, this game can be really upsetting. Keep that in mind should you decide to click.

Haha - that's awesome. I love the way they made Mama look in particular.

I hate PETA. I'm going to eat an extra Turkey sandwich today, just for this. So, THERE!
Dani @ Nov 18th 2008 11:56AM
here here! This is all just way too silly.
I eat meat, and I'm proud of it. I ain't even afraid to go out and get it myself.
What's wrong with these people? I don't slam my views in their face, or try and turn the world into vegetarians.

so this is where donations to PETA go? i have nothing against vegans or vegetarians. but this is horrible-PETA members should really open there eyes.

Majesco lawsuit in 3...2...1...
Jon @ Nov 18th 2008 1:36PM
This is not funny, thus the law of use under parody doesn't apply here. PETA has just committed a crime. It's called copyright infringement. I hope they get their @$$es sued off.

FUCK peta.
MasterWolf @ Nov 17th 2008 3:19PM
I tried playing it, I got up to the cooking the stuffed turkey, then got bored and lamented over wasting 7 minutes of my life. Plus the video was boring too, I hate PETA, just for that I am going to buy a fur coat, with fur lined boots.
Fred @ Nov 17th 2008 3:28PM
I hate PETA. Theyve always been into scary stuff, and rather than convince people with facts, prefer instead to scare, disgust, and guilt people into agreeing with them.
On top of that, they fully believe that animals should be treated exactly the same as humans. Now, I'm a huge animal lover, but I still recognize that my dog is subordinate to me, no matter how much I love him. He is not, and never will be, my equal.
Furthermore, they have also donated money to convicted felons, especially a few people who where convicted of firebombing research labs and releasing animals into the wild.
There are other MUCH better and realistic animal right groups out there, that use reason and logic instead of emotion to convince people.
PETA should be destroyed.
IAN @ Nov 17th 2008 3:36PM
That first video was so brutal it could make Michael Vick cry.
josh @ Nov 17th 2008 3:36PM
I hope they sue peta to the point where they own them and turn every building into a self learning butcher shop!
sn1per @ Nov 17th 2008 3:42PM
There's some great reasons to be vegetarian, but saving animals isn't one of them. Just as many (if not more) animals are killed every year during the harvesting of vegetables as are killed for their meat. And PETA provides funding to convicted terrorists (the people who firebomb animal testing facilities). It's appalling that these people actually get tax-exempt status as a nonprofit....
David Kearns @ Nov 17th 2008 4:06PM
The game is clearly based on some fantasy world that PETA has about cooking animals. I can see why they are against it, but since that's not reality I'm not sure why they're against it in the real world...
Derek B @ Nov 17th 2008 4:11PM
Ok, PETA, we don't attack you for killing defenseless plants. At least our meaty consumables can put up a fight. Besides, there is no such thing as a complete vegetarian. Not even Vegans are animal free. Everytime you swallow, you swallow dead skin cells from your mouth. Any post-nasal drainage you have you are consuming viruses and again your own skin cells. You are a self-canibal.
Chew on those thoughts!
Ninbrendo @ Nov 17th 2008 4:42PM
So snot is the same thing as a turkey? No wonder people run screaming every time I sneeze.
bug frawg @ Nov 17th 2008 4:24PM
I wonder if anyone at peta understands irony......

And by the way, I seem to be the only one here that seems to like PETA. I mean, by no accounts do I like this game, as it was way brutal, but they do have the right idea. They just fail miserably in the execution of these ideas.
Mike @ Nov 17th 2008 4:43PM
I think the true irony of it all is that they more likely than not enjoyed making a game where you slaughter animals.
theguy @ Nov 17th 2008 4:47PM
I dont understand why PETA is so proud of their works. If for them eating meet is the same as killing animals unethically, then they should also say the same about vegies, except it's worse. When they eat carrot, they dont just kill the plant, they tortured it by cutting off its feet (like cutting of an animal's feet) and ended up only eating that part. Eating vegies is all about mutilations, and the worst is when the plants are forced to reproduce and be mutilated each season. That's worse than eating meat. Can they actually say that plants dont have the same rights as animals do? Admit it PETA.
drywall @ Nov 17th 2008 6:31PM
@ the guy:
You're logic is flawed, probably because you're a troll and I'm too dull to realise it, but just in case: Vegetables do not have a central nervous system and a brain to process pain and suffering. Therefore, no matter the level of their mutilation you couldn't ever indirectly cause vegetables' torture or suffering by consuming them, which is PETA's argument in meat consumption.
I'm not for PETA, due to many of the reasons listed in these comments and that I'm a proud omnivore (yet still against suffering - human or otherwise), but your argument that by their logic, a carrot is wrong to consume due to it suffering as well is inherently flawed.
Yi @ Nov 17th 2008 10:33PM
What you said is correct, but dont you think you're being too scientific? How can you assume plants wont suffer just because it doesn't have a central nervous system? If we really care about lifes' suffering, dont you think we shouldn't be too narrow-minded and discriminate against central-nervous-system-absent organisms? The fact that they breath, eat, let out waste, grow, mate, and colonize is enough to show that they are a living creature. People cant just classify organisms based on central nervous system alone, or let say ability to consume, mate etc alone. That's what we call discrimination.
But again, that's my argument for those who really think it's inhumane to eat animals. I'm glad you're an omnivore because i'm one too, and proud of that and sees nothing wrong with it. I believe in killing animals humanely (less suffering as possible) for the survival of mankind, and totally oppose sensely killing of animals for stupid reasons (unneeded fur clothing, exotic foods, endangered species). But again, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Just dont break the law! :D
Matt @ Nov 17th 2008 4:49PM
I lovehate Peta.
Serious Kano @ Nov 17th 2008 4:54PM
Wow, talking about issues...
These guys should focus on problems that happen in the real world. Caring for real animals in need seems to be too time-consuming.
What's next? Vegetarian-only McDonald's? Come on...
Ben @ Nov 17th 2008 5:27PM
The HARDCORE you've been waiting for
ChibiKawase @ Nov 17th 2008 5:35PM
Oh, PETA. So deliciously insane and willing to make animal-lovers and vegetarians the world over look bad.
scissors125 @ Nov 17th 2008 5:41PM
Silly PETA. They're about as dumb as parents that think spanking kids is abuse.
I could poke an animal, and they'd try to get me arrested for animal cruelty
I'm against animal abuse, but COME ON! PETA gives a bad name not just to people for animal rights, they're a disgrace to the entire human race. I don't care if I'm going completely out of line with my opinion, I really think that they are a bunch of idiots.
And what in the name of all that is holy does Cooking Mama do wrong? The goriest thing in that game is taking the shell off the shrimp (which is freaking nasty, ewww). It's not like she's biting the head off a chicken and throwing it's bloody and squirming body in an oven for her to serve to others later on.
Seriously, I wish PETA would just shut the hell up and learn what they're talking about.

I have never played Cooking Mama.
But this story seriously compels me to go out and buy a copy. And consume a few extra servings of turkey.
I f##cking hate envirofascist, anti-human animal rights actvists.
AgentX8392 @ Nov 17th 2008 6:47PM
I might be wrong, but I believe that they are attacking the meat industry, not cooking mama. I think the cooking mama format is just a vehicle for the message.
Ayumin @ Nov 17th 2008 6:51PM
Yep, you're wrong. If you play to the end, you'll see that they are attacking Majesco being that they use a bowl labeled Majesco to hold the bits you remove from the turkey and what they want is a vegetarian version of Cooking Mama which is why they have you make tofurkey (and it's a whole lot easier than making real turkey in the game).
RupeeClock @ Nov 19th 2008 4:44AM

It's time for me to launch People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants! It's just as legit as PETA, with TWICE as much logic
Secre @ Nov 17th 2008 7:05PM
Vegetarians harm and kill animals too. They're just as bad as meat eaters. The only difference? At least we meat eaters eat the animals we kill. Vegetarians throw them aside or something and claim that it's okay because it was an accident.
For those who don't know, when harvesting wheat, vegetables, and other stuff that goes into a vegetarian's diet, animals sometimes end up being killed by the machines. These animals had snuck under/over the fences to feed on the food about to be harvested. When the machine comes by, some of them don't always get away, and end up being killed by the machines.
What does Peta say about this? "It's alright, we're still not the bad guys because it was only an accident." So the animal's remains goes to waste. Amazing job sticking up for your convictions. I'll stick to eating animals that are killed than throwing them away.
Ninbrendo @ Nov 17th 2008 10:55PM
People who ride bicycles are just as bad as people who drive Hummers. The only difference? At least we Hummer drivers drill, refine, and deliver the oil we pump into our vehicles. Bicycle riders pretend that petroleum products had nothing to do with the manufacturing of their vehicles.
Honestly, I can't decide if you are a just being a tool or are using sarcasm on a level way too subtle for my feeble mind to interpret. For reals! Your last paragraph is worthy of The Onion!
Secre @ Nov 18th 2008 12:03AM
Hur hurrr... I didn't know that people who biked used petroleum. Interesting little fact you just taught me. It's totally the same because apparently bicycles harm the environment, too! Maybe not so much, but it still does!
Since you couldn't tell, the first comment was serious with a few touches of sarcasm. This one was sarcasm. Also, it probably would have been a better choice to use a smaller car that uses less gas than an item that doesn't use any at all. At least then, your point would have been a good one. And I acknowledge that you had a good point in your mind.
My point with the previous statement was that no matter if everyone in the world became vegetarians, we'd still be killing animals. Not as many, but we'd still be doing it. And (Sarcasm again) it's totally justified because "it was an accident."
I would like to end this with saying that I don't eat meat just because I want to, I also eat it because it's tasty. And I'm not going to stop because Peta says so.
Secre @ Nov 18th 2008 12:03AM
I just realized I didn't read his comment correctly xP... Ah, well, I still said what was on my mind.
Ninbrendo @ Nov 18th 2008 2:36AM
Your reply to my reply has confused me even further, although I do appreciate your reply to your reply to my reply. It takes a lot of guts to admit that you meant you said! LOL!
I like that you understand what I meant about what you said sarcastically about driving a "smaller car".
As a vegetarian, I am a hypocrite. I take prescription medicines that I'm sure were tested on animals, and I feed my dog food that contains animal products. But when it comes to feeding myself three times a day, I'd like to think that I've taken myself out of the factory farming loop.
At the very least I'm just glad that this issue isn't the same as abortion, gay marriage, black/white, yes/no, up/down, left/right, casual/hardcore, 1/0, on/off, less filling/tastes great, etc, et. al., blah blah blah...
^-^
Secre @ Nov 18th 2008 3:01AM
Sorry, I have a habit of being able to explain myself really well until it gets to an actual important thing xP... It gets in the way alot. But, what I said about animals being killed during the harvesting of vegetarian products is in fact true. But, meh.
I just wanna have one thing put out there, I don't mind if anyone is a vegetarian, in fact, I encourage it if you feel like it would make a difference. Like my opinion counts much xP... Peta just kills me with the way they handle things. Every time they're mentioned in any site I visit, it's always something that either ruined or attempted to ruin something I like. And if they are called out on something, instead of admitting Vegetarianism isn't perfect, they just attempt to cover it up, or lie. I mean, last time I visited their site (Which was only because I saw a sexy photo on the Cyanide and Happiness site >.>...), I ended up reading a post about how scientists say humans are herbivores, not omnivores. That's a total lie.
Humans have the canine teeth made for tearing and chewing tough flesh, as well as the front teeth made for biting into an apple. When was the last time you bit into an apple with your canines, huh? You might have chewed it up with them, but you won't bit into an apple that way unless you're actually missing your front teeth. I've tried biting into a steak without cutting it using my front teeth before. Doesn't work as well as the canines do. Actually, with canines, you have to do a little ripping instead of just biting >.>... But when was the last time you saw a lion stick his nose into the carcass and eat the food that way?
Yeah, I think they could probably find a better way to convince people than lying and acting like vegetarianism is without flaws.
Why didn't they just ASK for a vegetarian Cooking Mama? I'm sure Majesco would have been happy to provide. This way basically says, "Meat eaters are assholes. Make a vegetarian one, or you're an asshole, too." At least, from the comments and the post, that's what it sounds to me. I don't plan on playing the game xP.

Dylan @ Nov 17th 2008 7:47PM
I'm actually a vegetarian, but I think PETA sometimes goes too far. It's just a video game! I usually do write in to the companies it encourages us too when it's for fur or animal abuse, but I refuse to write into Majesco.
But, not getting too detailed about my beliefs, I still think eating meat it wrong.

Ah, you gotta "love" PETA, which means "People for the Eating of Tasty Animals". Buncha power-hungry, good-for-nothing miscreants. They should go piss up a rope. Or at least commit seppuku. The likes of them are the very epitome stupidity and retardedness. I take every chance I can get to rag on PETA, ACLU and Green Peace...This may sound like I'm being rude (which I intend to be)nevertheless, they suck.
