Wii most popular platform for Guitar Hero: World Tour [update]
Update: RMC was kind enough to shoot us an email to notify that MTV has since updated their story as their figures were inaccurate. Turns out, the Xbox 360 version of the game won out. Bummer.
Wii owners love their Guitar Hero, as it's revealed that Guitar Hero: World Tour, the latest and greatest in the franchise, sold more on Wii than any other system. With the recent NPD numbers, MTV Multiplayer also secured exact sales figures for Activision's latest title. Across all platforms, Guitar Hero: World Tour sold 534,000 copies. Of those, 183,000 were for the Wii.
We know a lot of you were excited for World Tour up until release. Did you pick it up? Enjoy it, or found it isn't all it was cracked up to be?

Got it, and it's amazing and fun as hell. Thank god the Wii finally has DLC.

This probably has something to do with the fact that Rock Band 2 hasn't come out yet for Wii. People want to get started on their Christmas shopping, and with Guitar Hero already out, they probably decide that waiting for Rock Band is not worth it.
Hardy @ Nov 14th 2008 5:24PM
This, and the last Rock Band sucked, and the other Guitar Heroes were limited.
Also they actually tried this time in terms of content in the game.

this is a silly statement. it should come as NO SURPRISE WHATSOEVER that it's the most popular platform for guitar hero, simply because it's sold almost double the other consoles have! it's not necessarily a matter that wii owners like guitar hero, but simply the fact that there are many more wii owners than, say, 360 owners.

Well, your theory has been torn asunder. Better luck next time.

LOL Your right, what a silly statement...

Guitar Hero : World Tour.
Looks like crap, singing works like crap (compared to Rock Band), and.... crap.
Jestersage @ Nov 15th 2008 10:21AM
Compare to RB1, GHWT is gold.
Compare to RB2... yes, I am agonizing. Especially if according to gamestop, it's pushed back to March. I hope Ninty release their HD solution, or else I am going to stuck singing Tool songs (which is good, but the onyl few good songs aside from Stillborn, pull me under, and What I've Done)

Definitely liking GH:WT. Having some friends over this weekend so that should really put it through its paces.
Plus, user made Mega Man remixes? awesome.
justarandomguy @ Nov 15th 2008 1:37PM
they should have some dlc of some Strong Bad or Limozeen songs, like they had in some of the other gh games, cause that would be awesome!

the most important thing is that the game is fun as hell.
like the new guitar and the drums (once adjusted) are , imo, way better that RB's setup.
i'm a little displeased with the gimped character editor and gimped DLC for the wii, at least there is some DLC i suppose...
four wii remotes!?! WTF activision, WTF?

Not surprised the figures were wrong. The 360 online capabilities were sure to make it the best selling. Wii stills sucks with internet connections. Oh well, the Wii may sell good and have a couple good games, but I don't see it doing that great next year unless Nintendo makes real games.

I haven't picked it up yet, probably will over Black Friday at Target.. since the guitar bundle is on sale for $60.

I picked up GHWT on Wednesday love it I chose it over Rockband as I believe it has the better drum set, at first I thought I could use the Rockband game on my GHWT drum kit but it did not work when I purchased the Rockband 1 game on the weekend? I have looked in many places on the web and it looks like the wii is the only console with this problem as PS3 and Xbox360 can play either game with either drumkit. If anyone knows a solution eg. A patch or an aftermarket drum kit that will allow you to play either game. I do not have the space for 2 drum kits. I believe the problem with the wii is that it uses the wiimote in the drums and guitar for GHWT and it has a usb plug for the Rockband drums and guitar, please comment if you have any ideas, There will be many wii users hitting this brickwall, I only I could make a patch myself but I know nothing in that sort of way....... (hanging on) Wayne
