Animal Crossing: City Jack O' Lanterns
For those of us who missed celebrating our favorite fall holiday with fake anthropomorphic jerks, Halloween is back in Animal Crossing: City Folk. We just have to ... wait almost the whole year for it, thanks to the November release of the game.
Your animal neighbors, dressed in identical pumpkinhead costumes, will accost you and demand candy. If you fail to comply, or try to pass off some junk out of your pockets as candy, as the IGN demo player has done here, you get a trick! For being stingy, the residents slapped a pumpkin head on him and changed his clothes.
In the little IGN player doodad, there's another video featuring a player picking fruit in the winter. Animal Crossing winters are so lovely!

Looking at that item screen makes me wonder if there's another segment for tools, like the shovel and bug net?

I can't decide if I should get this! I keep going back and forth on it. I love the DS version and probably played it more than any other game in my life. But not in a while.
I saw a video recently about this one and the guy on the video said it's not all that different from the DS version. So now I can't decide if I should get this or not.
Help!

Don't.
Don't support Nintendo when the release old material again. If the game had better graphics or more things added then you should. But it doesn't.
Lets hope the next Animal Crossing is better.

No offence to Dustin, but if you serisously loved the previous Animal Crossings, either the GC one or WW, then you'd probally be doing yourself a favor by making this purchase. Adding online support, holidays are back, more customization options...this is probally a good choice for anyone who liked the previous games.

Ok, you're one of those people that think gaming is about graphics. Soo right off from that, you're a moron. But, what I'm getting to is that AC:CF doesn't need better graphics, you're chopping down trees and picking fruit, "WOW, check this out guys, watch me buy some stuff from Nook, in HD!!".. yeah, sounds stupid doesn't it. So why don't you go over to Sony and stop complaining about Nintendo, the biggest games console maker out there.

There has been many an Animal Crossing event (on both GC and DS) where I've actually stayed in and celebrated the events with my animal friends in the game instead of going out and celebrating with real people. As much as I'm looking forward to the new AC on the Wii, I fear it's only going to confirm that my social situation has not improved.... :-(
Garu @ Nov 14th 2008 2:50PM
LOL! I have said in the past that I have more friends in Animal Crossing than I do in the real world! So I completely understand!

I. Hated. This. I mean, I liked getting Halloween-themed furniture, but in one of my early instances of actually finding Jack, there were two residents in the area, double-teaming me up and down. In an experimental whim, I found that they'd even change the candies (not even about to try with any of my golden tools, though there's shovels to spare). When the annoyance of constant surplus of shirts (constantly cycled into inventory or being-tricked, replaced by design-based "clothes"), lanterns, and boxes was only abided by island "plans", then Jack gives me, what, 3-4 beds? Yeesh... Well, another year 'til I can try again for the full set. If only City Folk took GameCube towns into itself.

Oh, and here's to hoping my Welcome Wiggin' entry wins: placings the "holes" of Jack's head onto my/our large, fuzzy, orange cat, with a cutout of Jack's robe situated "beneath" (all from cardstock, Sarphie, dry-erase markers, and a bit of orange highliter, to connect the facial features (looked for a marker, but alas...)).

My gf looked forward to Animal Crossing CF's Halloween so much. She was highly disappointed when she heard about the November release... she questioned if she should change the date on her GC.
...the problem was, she was dating me. I've only changed the date ONCE during all my years (?) of playing Animal Crossing, and that was just to see if it worked. I'm very very strict on changing dates, resetting, and "cheat" codes in AC. So as long as she's dating me, she won't be able to do any of the above without getting a lecture longer than what Resetti (Resseti?) could give.
She'll have to wait 'til next year.
On another more important note:
I REALLY REALLY HOPE this is more like the GC version than the WW version. I could tell it has more functions that were in the WW version, but I just hope the "community" is much more like the GC version.
...in WW, everyone seemed like they were on drugs, they were talking "at you", not TO YOU. O_o
SoshiKitai @ Nov 15th 2008 1:57PM
"change the date on her Wii" I mean... :P
