Nice idea, terrible value: the Multiplayer Controller Set
A Go Nintendo reader spotted this on the shelves of his local Target: a "Multi-Player Controller Set" containing a Wii Remote, a Nunchuk, and a Wii Wheel. This kind of thing obviously makes sense to Nintendo as Christmas approaches (the season where Wii excels, some would say), and we could really get behind the idea of a good value bundle of second/third/fourth peripherals (still need a fourth Wiimote and Nunchuk at Casa de Greenhough!).
It's just a shame that the price is such a sham: $74.99?! All three of these peripherals are available separately at Amazon for a total of $63.91 (which qualifies for free shipping), but here's the real laugh: you can buy an individual Wiimote, Nunchuk, and Wii Wheel for $74.97 at Target itself. D'oh! Knock at least fifteen bones off this and you've got our attention.

Oh I saw this yesterday, and I thought the same thing. Nice idea, but whats the point. I guess if someone wants a nice all in one gift to give this is good but I would expect at least $10 off if not a little more.

It may not save money, but at least it reduces waste, and you won't have to deal with clamshell packaging. Most people buy all these accesories at least once anyways.

But pay an extra 50 cents to reduce waste?
Not for me, thanks.
Anyway, this package would make perfect sense if it were the cost of the Wiimote and nunchuck with the $10/15 wheel thrown in for free.
But it doesn't.

50 cents? That's couch change
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Nov 13th 2008 3:17AM
Uh, that's a two cents difference between the individual items and the bundle...

I saw the picture and said "Cool, I hope it's cheap"
I read the article, and said "Nice try, Nintendo"
I am NOT paying this much. The Wheel Wheel is just a piece of crap of a plastic shell. It's a lot more comfortable to play Mario Kart Wii with the Wiimote by itself. They could have easily charged only $60 for the package if it didn't have the Wii Wheel.

I would buy it if it came with a Wiimote and Classic Controller combo instead. No Wii Wheel, kthxbai

Definitely a rip considering the minimal costs that go into the Whiil itself. I figured they could divert the profit from the Wiimote and Nunchuk over to that, and package the trio for maybe $65

I would bet that this is going to be one of their post-Thanksgiving deals for a substantially reduced price. They did this fairly often back when I worked there. They also did the same thing at Walmart last year when they bundled Classic controlers and nunchuks with other accessories and set the regular price at the full retail of the individual items.

I dunno, buying on Amazon to save $10 is a little silly, since I have to wait for it to ship at the free shipping price. Buying them separately at Target to save $.03 is even more silly, since there's less packaging this way. If i wanted to get all three of these, I'd probably grab them in one box.

Have you ever bought anything from Amazon? I've bought tons of things from there, always with free shipping, and stuff (almost) always arrives in a couple of days. Heck it would take me a couple of days just to drag my lazy butt to Target, and by then the Amazon package would have already been sitting on my doorstep.

Does anyone else think the box cover is just plain misleading? It would appear that there are TWO Wii Remotes inside the box.
Either show an empty Wii Wheel and the other two, or JUST show the Wheel with Remote and the Nunchuk.
