World of Goo-d news for Europe
We love you, 2D Boy. Yes, you, Ron Carmel and Kyle Gabler. As if the brilliant, brilliant World of Goo wasn't already enough to make us swoon, the
Before today, World of Goo was all set to be a retail title in Europe, a decision that brought about a backlash, due to the added expense. Carmel heard the outcry, because he recently told Gamasutra: "We've caught some flak for [the decision]. Gamers were kind of annoyed. Apparently, we had no idea about this, but European gamers often feel like they're getting screwed, because games arrive late and cost more." Too true!
So now, World of Goo is coming to WiiWare in Europe also! A post on the 2D Boy blog reveals that it should be coming in December, and for probably the same price (1500 points, and worth every one). And what of the extra sixth chapter that Europe is getting as a consolation prize? We're going to totally speculate that it will be made available as DLC, in which case North America could get the missing section after all. Everybody wins!

I know I live in America and this is probably unrelated to this post, but I'm buying World of Goo on Tuesday. :)

Good move on the distribution decision. Even better if we get the next level as DLC. Truly one of the best games I've played in a long time...

I really hope the US gets the 6th level.
Of course, I have yet to download World of Goo (I didn't have enough points until I got another Wii Points Card this past weekend), but I've wanted the game since it came out. I'll most likely download it this weekend.
Word of Goo sales +1.

Good news, but I wonder whether the disc version is still coming out. I'll probably-definitely buy it on Wiiware, but losing the ability to lend/sell still seems odd to me.

Can somebody elaborate me 2d boy's reasons for the final Q&A (Q: i am european and i am still angry with you. A: Thank you, user000299174, for contacting...) ?

Buy this game right now. Seriously one of the best games I've ever played.

Sound like a great game. I played the demo and loved it.
I like the idea of indie developers taking a non-DRM stance.
So...I went to buy it on steam and found that I couldn't. Because I'm in Europe I have to wait "until Feb/March". If there was ever a way to alienate euro customers this was it.
I thought the days of Europe getting films and games late was long gone. Not so, it seems.
With this approach, there's no surprise about the piracy rates to me. I WILL buy this when I can, but I MIGHT not wait until then to play it. If ever I saw a bad business decision, this was it.
