This one is pretty easy and direct. What's your favorite feature of the Wii? Is it the Wiimote and its capabilities? Or, are you a big fan of the Virtual Console or WiiWare? Did backwards compatibility with the GameCube make you fall in love with it? Which one of the Wii's amazing features got you hooked on the console?
I completely agree about the two handed controller. It is the most comfortable controller I have used.
Motion controls were what originally hooked me on the console, but now I am iffy about the motion controls. The first two games I played on the console were WiiSports and RE4. Both games were great in large part due to the controls. 3 years later, I can't believe I haven't found another game in either genre that I have enjoyed. There have been other games I really enjoyed (MarioKart, Galaxy, Fire Emblem) but none of them needed motion controls to be great.
Backwards comparability with the Gamecube is convenient but not decisive. I still have the adapter that plays GBA games on my gamecube, that doesn't work on the wii, therefore I couldn't ditch my gamecube.
From a business perspective, keeping bc was important.
While I wouldn't necessarily say it is my favorite feature, I think the built in speaker is one of the most underrated features and controller advancements.
My favorite would have to be....tough to choose one...the controller. The revolutionary controller that infused motion into game play for superior performance and precision.
The "waggle waggle features" that you described have absolutely nothing to do with the controller itself. Just because a developer uses the controller in a poor way it doesn't mean that the controller itself is poor.
The Wii remote is more precise and superior for many games and this is clearly proven in games where developers put some effort in to get the controls right.
The games, mostly because the games coming from Nintendo and the characters we all know and love are awesome. And then VC and backwards compatibility with GC(cause a year before the Wi came out, my GC died >.
the puns..... no the channels style... I see a little preview of the game in the disc drive, its great but the system is not focusing on that, i can play some virtual console games and come back to the clean menu!
It's the Wiimote. Love the motion control in games, love the little speaker in the Wiimote... Most of all, I think I love the ability to point at the screen and choose things instantly rather than scroll through options with the controller or akwardly move around a pointer onscreen. That's the feeling I get whenever I'm playing on the PS3... I just think "Wow, why can't I just point at it..." (especially during text entry).
The controller and its capabilities, of course. It's such an amazing device. Now and then I play it and think "Wow."
Every time is like the first time. ;)
And I love the Channels, especially the Shop Channel. I love WiiWare and the Virtual Console, although I don't love them as much as I'd like (dang cash).
Seriously, you think all consoles before the Wii had "sucky controls"?!!?! You're not one of these geriatic "new gamers" who can't figure out how to use buttons are you?
Haha no, I have owned consoles before this and found the lineal tracking useless for FPS, and platformers had there occasional moments too. Before the Wii I would only play FPS on a computer. To own a console simply to play racing games is not worthwhile for me, I skipped the last generation completely.
The motion controlls weren't the "ISH" factor for me... though it did intrigue me, it was all about the "feel" for the early games that came out for the Wii. The kind of thing where it made you feel like future games could be different, and that the family would finally come back to the living room and play a video game together again (those were good times).
1. I love how it attracts family members to play together again.
2. It's the whole system. It's kind've endearing to me. :P

The best feature is the blue light in the disc slot.
Mr Khan @ Nov 11th 2008 8:36AM

OpNickC @ Nov 11th 2008 8:42AM
The controller, of course.

The controller. Whether I'm playing Scarface or Wii Sports Bowling it's just fun not frustrating like the other consoles.

Is the only console were you can find a Zelda game :P
samfish @ Nov 11th 2008 9:20AM
I agree with MR Kahn that the games is the main draw for me.
...although I also love the two handed controller concept. Even if they don't have motion control, I hope all future controllers are separated.

The VC sold me, I've spent more on points then discs so far.
Daryl @ Nov 11th 2008 10:52AM
Wiiware and the wiimote.
I support the VC but rarely use it because I actually did play most of the older games when they were new games.

you mean the shitty waggle waggle features-hope that wm+ fixes this cuz right now it has no superiorioty whatsoever

Someone hasn't played Zack & Wiki, or LostWinds, or MarioKart, or any of the other fantastic titles that aren't "waggle" games.
The best games don't waggle. That's proof, pure and simple, that developers make or break the controller.

the best feature...hands down, is that it comes with the vertical stand. Totally. Oh, and that the controllers eat AA batteries likes cars and gas
