What can we say about Mega Man 3? It's a classic game, one that should be in anyone's collection. We'd suggest you check out Anniversary Collection as it's a pretty good compilation disc, but if you're more the type to like downloading things, then check out Mega Man 3. Either way, just play it.

I picked up a used copy of the GameCube Mega Man Collection for $8.99 from GameStop!
Good deal... although I still hate GameStop!

I already own the anniversary collection, but I hate the reversed a and b button thing, I intend on downlaoding all the Megaman games they may put on the VC solely so I can play them with my Wiimote, I'm only keeping the anniversary collection around for those fighting games.

Just import a PS2->GC controller converter from China. Works great for me on the X collection (were the buttons reversed on that one too? I'm not sure...). And it has the added bonus of not having to put up with the GC's shitty DPad.

Sorry, nevermind, I just checked and the X collection doesn't have that problem (and the X games had configurable controls anyway), so that converter wouldn't solve the button swap problem on the Anniversary Collection. (Any why the hell would it, now that I think about it...?)

While I comprehend that the Anniversary collection is the way to get a lot for your money, the control swap was awful.
I'd much prefer to have the VC versions for what would only be $33 if they release 1-7. Granted, no special features and no MM8, but the controls and convenience of being on the Wii menu are a huge perk IMO. So, I'm all for it.
Same with Sonic... playing the Sonic Collection with the backwards GameCube controls is sooo annoying ;)
Spike @ Nov 11th 2008 8:53AM
but you can configure the controls in mega collection

Please someone gift me MM3. I will pay you back very soon. And even if you dont trust me its only five dollars. . . Pffffft is say that like i have five dollars.

I had the anniversary collection, but the games weren't the NES originals. The NES games had Navi mode built-into the menus which I believe is a left-over feature from the PS releases of these games. Mega Man II didn't have the option on the title screen for difficult or normal because it was worked into the menu somehow. It didn't correctly translate to the normal and difficult versions in the NES game.
The anniversary collection may appear as a good value, but it's version of the games aren't the true originals. The same is true of the X collection which uses another version of X3 instead of the SNES version with the awesome music.
The anniversary collection is good for the fighting games and the ability to play MM8 on a Nintendo console. If down the line the Virtual Console adds Sega Saturn emulation to the list, you could very well see this title appear there as well.

"The NES games had Navi mode built-into the menus"
Navi mode can be turned off (I hated that too). It does still being up a new menu when you pause though (but that never bothered me).
There was one other change from the originals: There's an annoying gap in the music whenever it loops. Not a big enough deal for me to rebuy on the VC though. (Besides, I got the PS2 version of the anniversary collection, so I don't have the control swap issue)

... No it doesn't.

sheesh, I always forget how frustrating these games can be! And even after finishing MM1 and MM2.
My recent game choices have left me with poor MM skills (Metroid, Guitar Hero, and Secret of Mana). blergh.

The A/B swap thing sounds worse than it is. It took me like a second to get used to it.
