Dreamcast still alive in Sonic Unleashed
The keen-eyed Sega fanatics over at Sega Nerds picked up on something interesting. See the image above? Notice anything? There's a Dreamcast! Apparently, Robotnik likes to take a break from hunting down Chaos Emeralds every now and then with a game of Lucky Hit.
We may be a Wii-based gaming blog, but we love the Dreamcast. And we're glad that Sega took the time to toss the system into Sonic Unleashed like they did. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have some people to question about a black car. You know, the one on the day of the incident? Have you seen it?

Yes, as I've noted many times on this blog, I'm a fan of nintendo-sega collaboration and was a fan of the dreamcast at its time. And I'm glad to see sega performing well on nintendo, but poorly on high definition. They'll figure out that nintendo is their ally, and I think they have.

Bingo.
SEGA's doing their best work this gen on Wii, and the sooner they figure out that they should capitalize on it, the better.
Maybe then my dream of Waggling my way through a Burning Rangers sequel will be realized.

Another thing, I think Nintendo hit a cold spot with first party titles. They won't be on fire again until late 2009 to 2010. Granted 2006 and 2007 were great and 2008 was pretty good.
Sega will be on fire in 2009. They'll hold us over while Nintendo regains its balance.

Bonus points for the Shenmue reference. F.R.E.E.!

Maybe Robotnik knows where I can find some sailors...

I lol'd hard... very hard, compare Sonic Unleashe on 360 and PS3 to the Wii version, SEGA is a multiplatform company who does not favor consoles, especially the Wii.

Compare sonic the hedgehog (2006) and golden axe beast rider to sonic and the secret rings for wii.
DUH, Unleashed is designed for the 360 and PS3. It's just a PORT to the wii.
But the games that are built for the wii, from the ground up, are outperforming those on the 360/ps3.
House of the dead : Overkill. The conduit (hopefully sega can add a little flavor to what high voltage has already done). Madworld. Sonic and the Dark Knight.
Sega's future is with the wii and they know it.

I'm trying to figure out what exactly that screenshot is...

I thought I was the only one...

I'm rather perplexed as well...
I see a hand in the foreground pointing southwest.
I see goggles on what I can only assume is Dr. Robotnik.
I see half of what appears to be some sort of Simon memory game knock-off.
I see part of a golden circular something-or-other.
And finally I see... um... a silver animal trap? Oh, and surrounding it all is a double circle of sorts.
The only Dreamcast I see is to my immediate left, sitting alongside my other "obsolete" consoles. I fully admit to being myopic (my glasses are thicker than yours), but jeezum crow! ^-^

I think it's in the shadows down at the bottom left. It's easier to see on the source page (for some weird reason).
igorponweed @ Nov 5th 2008 6:25PM
Robotniks so evil, I' sure he doesn't have any of the last innovative or risky Sega games.

@ Daryl
my guess is your referring to the zelda, mario, pikmin, kid icarus, S&P 2, and project h.a.m.m.e.r. their developing right? if so then i agree. but there are other great Wii titles besides the ones sega's developing exclusively for the Wii. for instance theirs ARC RISE FANTASIA and DEAD RISING CHOP TIL YOU DROP (even if it has a bit less zombies it'll still be a heck of a lot more fun then the 360's version).

There was also a Mega Drive in Sonic Chronicles. It was in a trash heap.
ben @ Nov 8th 2008 5:26PM
couldn't you have made it more visible?, I had to save the image to my comp, and zoom in on it to actually see the aforementioned dreamcast.
