Yu Suzuki's Space Harrier is quite the fun time. It may not be the perfect arcade port and runs a bit slow when you're playing, but, overall, it's a fun game. And, seriously, for $5, it's a great diversion. You aren't going to be investing 20 hours into the thing, but, for $5, it's a great way to waste a rainy afternoon.

I dunno, that looks like a pretty assy port - almost to the point of being broken. The fact that it's Space Harrier has clouded your judgment here a little bit.

Yes, but it's Space Harrier.

Actually, it is a port from one of the sega systems. Not from the arcade version. I can't remember what system I had it on. I loved this game as a kid. It gave the illusion, at the time, of traveling in a "3D-ish" environment. Cheesy, yes, but still fun.

3-D World runner on NES anyone? Actually from the looks of this, that was a better game.

Love the space harrier - actually Space Harrier II has been on the VC for a while and not only was it a game that i got with my genesis way back when, but I have found that over the years it is one of the games that i play more consitently than any other. Basic shooter, but runs a smoother than the Master System one.
So though it's a little more dosh, SHII is a fun, simple shooter with a great soundtrack.
