Sorry, Rock Banders, no Beatles for you
When it was revealed via conference call that MTV had scored the rights to the Beatles for an upcoming game, many questions arose. What music would the game include? Would it be a Rock Band spin-off? Would it work with any of the Rock Band games? Well, sadly, we have an answer on that last one.
According to Reuters, there won't be any compatibility between the upcoming Beatles-specific game and the Rock Band games from Harmonix. There won't even be a chance to download the Beatles songs into a Rock Band game. Hopefully, down the line, we'll get hope that this will change. For the time being, however, just look forward to the Beatles-specific game and be sure to tell us what you're looking forward to playing.

So long as I don't have to buy another set of instruments. Except maybe a tiny plastic sitar.

nail in the coffin for me. I'm not a huge fan of the beatles, I don't own any of their music (at least the originals, Im' sure I have some re-makes/covers) and making it yet another game means I don't want it.

I think any period of Beatles is great, they have a lot of guitar-heavy songs in the early and later parts, the middle part is the experimentation. Having played Rock Band 2, I am ready for this!

This isn't surprising. It would have been too good for Harmonix to be true, if the two games were going to be compatible.
I prefer Guitar Hero to Rock Band, but I prefer the Beatles to both of them, and I'm sure there are countless other people out there like me. Compatibility would have won, or at least severely crippled Guitar Hero, in the music game war.
I just want to see how the instruments are going to work. Are we getting new ones altogether, or are we just getting the same Rock Band ones? Frankly, I'm not impressed with the Rock Band drums compared to the Guitar Hero ones, and I can't imagine pretending to be Ringo very well on them.

I like The Beatles as much as the next person, but I'm not buying a whole new set of peripherals just to play their songs in a game.

What if I'm the next person, and just don't like them?

Let's move on to someone more relevant. Next!
;)
Just kiddin' Rocketboy, everyone is entitled to their opinion..
Honestly though, There are probably more people who will buy the special Beatles game, get Rock Band-compatible instruments with it, and eventually get into Rock Band, too!

In their press release they mentioned that it would be a brand-new game, BUT the Rock Band instruments will work fine with it. As long as the cost of entry is just the price of a game disc, I don't think it's that big of a deal.
