Activision gives sensitivity training to Guitar Hero: World Tour drums
Some Guitar Hero: World Tour players are reporting sensitivity issues with the drums -- basically, that they have to pound the hell out of them to register a hit. If you're tired of having to go all Keith Moon all the time, Activision and Neversoft have a solution for you, and it's kind of an unexpected one: drum sensitivity tuning software.
Activision has released Windows-based tuning software which will allow players to connect their drum kits to their PCs and manually alter the sensitivity of each input. If that doesn't help, provided your overworked (but totally buff) arms can deal with the searing pain of motion long enough to lift the phone, you can report your sensitivity issues to Activision online or by phone at (310)255-2050.

Before someone asks, how it works is they mail you a USB to MIDI cable, which you connect to the drum kit's MIDI input and your PC. Same for all consoles.
My kit is working mostly fine after I applied the masking tape fix to the cymbals (easily found on Youtube) but I might request a sensitivity kit anyway to allow for playing more quietly but still registering hits.

My red snare broke. :( How can they help me with that.
TWOO DEE @ Oct 29th 2008 6:01PM
call the number posted or, even better, i'm sure there's an 800 number listed in the manual for the game...

Getting GHWT either late this year or sometime(hopefully early) next year, I get to have non-faulty drums...but I still have to wait. :(
Also, what about people like me with no computer? They should release a free version of this downloadable on the in-game store(if it'd work). Or at least cover shipping...You spend $190 +tax then you have to pay more(and wait a month) because their drums broke?
Moleculo @ Oct 29th 2008 7:29PM
I _think_ shipping (and the kit itself) is free. As why they don't patch it into the consoles, I wonder if the console OSes would allow software to write to a device's firmware through its USB ports.

Twoo Dee, wal-mart is going to give me a new whole band kit once they get more in stock.

And what about Mac users???
Ghen @ Oct 30th 2008 7:43AM
bootcamp and/or get a real computer
Matt B @ Oct 30th 2008 10:21AM
We already have a real computer. And we don't want to soil it with Windows.
johnnyg0 @ Oct 30th 2008 12:05PM
You should've thought of that in the first place when you chose an OS that rejected videogames since its birth.
I don't mind putting a little Windows in my soil, its amazing what grows out of it.
DUDE @ Oct 30th 2008 11:10PM
i chose a computer based on the best OS for my professional career. for a couple of years it was mac, then it was pc, now its mac again. sheeple "bah" a lot on the internet, no? i mean, games are fun and all, but productivity pays the bills... that buy the consoles. say it with me: maturity, sheeple.
KIMP @ Oct 31st 2008 6:53AM
Sad as some PC fanboys simply drank too much Kool Aid.
My question and the fact that I own a Mac has NOTHING to do with the fact that the Mac is not a game platform! And I dont care that its not. If I want to play game I buy a console, its a simple as that.
I expected a simple answer... what I got was more retarded comments from PC users... thank you!

You'd think after messing up so back with mono sound on guitar hero 3 that they would've smartened up this time around.
Console game developers are getting worse every day. With cheap hardware and buggy software, I'm really turned off by this generation of gaming.
Raven @ Oct 29th 2008 10:45PM
You'd think after messing up so BAD*

I just finished writing/posting a new webpage HowTo Guide with DIY Fixes for the GHWT drum sensitivity issues. Check it out: http://www.powertuneplus.com/gh/
I included large high quality photos and videos demonstrating the before and after results.
With my fixes my Red pad went from the least responsive to the MOST responsive!!
Ghen @ Oct 30th 2008 7:45AM
the website is as stated but be warned, some of the fixes may void the warranty.

nice job man -- i saw some stuff on the GH boards, but this is the nicest, easiest to understand resource. my thanks to you!

Am I the only one who's content with my drums?
Tristan @ Dec 11th 2008 4:40PM
Can I use Guitar Hero World tour with mic, drum and 2 guitars? That would be great!
