First Guitar Hero: World Tour DLC announced, priced [update]
Will the first round of downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour leave you convulsing and writhing around your living room, in the manner of the youths in the footage above (1:04)? Possibly, but hopefully you'll be a bit more coordinated, and a little less chemically assisted.
As you may have already guessed, a trio of Jimi Hendrix tracks will kickstart the Wii's great Guitar Hero DLC adventure on November 13th. "If 6 was 9," "Little Wing," and a live version of "Fire" will all be available for 200 Nintendo Points each. A week later, on November 20th, we'll be getting three tracks from Jack White's other band, The Raconteurs: "Salute Your Solution," "Hold Up," and "Consoler of the Lonely" will also be going for 200 Points apiece.
Hendrix: awesome. The Raconteurs: don't know anything about them. If you're as desperately out of touch with modern music as this blogger, you can get more in touch past the break.
Update: Uh oh: re-reading the press release, there seems to be a good chance Wii owners won't be getting the Hendrix tracks -- thanks, Moleculo!

All I know about the Racontours is that "Salute Your Solution" is freaking awesome.
Scotty @ Oct 28th 2008 2:49PM
Racontours new album is amazing. I'm a huge Jack White fan. Definitely picking up those tracks.

Take another look at that press release: "The Raconteurs Track Pack and Jimi Hendrix Track Pack will be available on Xbox LIVE(R) Marketplace for Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft for 440 Microsoft Points and on the PLAYSTATION(R)Store for the PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system for $5.49. In addition, the three tracks from The Raconteurs Track Pack will be released as single downloadable songs for Xbox 360 for 160 Microsoft Points, PLAYSTATION 3 system for $1.99 and Nintendo(R) Wi-Fi Connection for Wii(TM) for 200 Wii Points."
That sounds like the Wii is not getting the Hendrix, at least for now.

Wow, that ... does sound like that! I'll update, and thanks for spotting.
Hardy @ Oct 28th 2008 2:54PM
Pricing isn't that bad a at all. Though depending how many songs come out, that'll add up really fast, but I guess that's the point.

The Raconteurs = Jack White's (of White Stripes fame) pet project and not as great
I'm waiting for RB2 to come out before deciding on which game to pick up... =\
Dav4550 @ Oct 29th 2008 1:25AM
Woah man, The Raconteurs is a far superior project compared to the White Stripes and I have been a White Stripes fan for years. The Raconteurs has the same overall sound because of Jack but the drums are way better and there is more room for complexity because of the extra members.
fraxyl @ Oct 28th 2008 11:20PM
At least you get the choice. Rock Band has been out for how long and still isn't available in Australia. :/
Who knows when RB2 will be out here... I'm guessing sometime after the next ice age, which according to world scheduling schemes, will hit here about 4 years after it hits the rest of the world is thawing out.
And what's the deal with bundling with a guitar, mic and drums and completely forgetting about people who already bought a previous GH and have two guitars?
Anybody want to lend me their time machine so we may travel back, dance with funky dinosaurs and then perhaps go forwards a bit and kill off whoever invented "marketing and promotion"?
TWOO DEE @ Oct 29th 2008 10:37AM
@Dav4550
I'm convinced you haven't heard Icky Thump, then :) Plus, how dare you criticize Meg! Her basic drum skill is what separated TWS from every other 'garage band' that followed them.
THRILLHO @ Oct 28th 2008 4:46PM
I'll bet it has to do with the fact that the Hendrix tracks aren't being sold separately. If that's the case, this might be Nintendo's fault and not Activision. If so, and if it's the same with Death Magnetic and bundle pricing, Activision should speak up to cover their own asses.
Moleculo @ Oct 28th 2008 5:55PM
Yeah I'm wondering if Activision's deal with the Hendrix owners was to only sell as a bundle, presumably increasing revenues for all concerned because few buyers will object to such a solid pack. Nintendo really needs to rethink this stupid bundling policy if that's the case cause I want my Hendrix.
Atlantis1982 @ Oct 28th 2008 7:04PM
Agreed, I am not amused with no additional Hendrix. -.-
Joseph Gonzalez @ Oct 28th 2008 5:59PM
This is nice and all but I just have to ask..
Where is the full album of Death Magnetic?! We get three songs at launch and not one of them are Unforgiven III OR The Day That Never Comes!!

According to an email to activision, this is all the Metallica the Wii will be getting.
Wii is definately gimped on DLC.
Joseph Gonzalez @ Oct 28th 2008 7:05PM
I fail to understand why. Could you link us to this email or is it an email that has been sent direct to you?
This just doesn't make sense!!

"great Guitar Hero DLC adventure"?
More like great Guitar Hero KFC adventure...
Joseph Gonzalez @ Oct 28th 2008 7:07PM
Here is where I am a bit lost with the whole KFC deal.. KFC is VERY closely tied in with Pepsi.. yet ... there are CocaCola bottles seen in the game as well...? Unless those are Dr Pepper bottles but they sure as heck looked like CC .... I hope I'm wrong. I've already turned the game off due to absolute boredom. Perhaps I can fire it back up.

I would need to look again to be sure, but I don't think they are Coke... just very similar. I've noticed pizza boxes that look a LOT like Papa John's style boxes, yet aren't.
As for being bored... I'm definitely not there yet. There are a lot of decent tracks, and a lot I'm having a great time playing. But to each his own.
Also, the character creator is a bit... underwhelming... particularly compared to the Tony Hawk and Tiger Woods games out there, but I managed to come up with some decent Mythbusterockers.
Next up, album cover art. I'm thinking 8-bit Mega Man.
Adrian @ Oct 28th 2008 11:43PM
Wtf?! first we only get 4 metallica songs (not a fan, but still) now we might not get hendrix?! (also not a fan but i'm sure they are fun GH songs.) What going to happen when a band that I do like releases DC and I only get some of them?!
sam @ Nov 6th 2008 12:08PM
The Raconteurs suck! Why can't we ever just get some cool stuff.
