What is Art Style: ROTOHEX?
Nintendo has been making a habit of releasing these Art Style games onto WiiWare, but not really giving us enough info in the announcement. First it was Orbient, then Cubello, and now, it's ROTOHEX. And, just as with those games, this one is another remake of a bit Generations title for the GBA, Dialhex. We snagged the gameplay video you see above from the Nintendo Channel to give you all a glimpse at what to expect in the game.
Now that you've seen it, think you will be downloading it?

Short answer?
No.

No. It looks interesting and something that I might enjoy, but without a demo I'm not willing to risk $6 on something that might be the equivalent of an online flash game.

Same here. Been burned too many times already.

I'll have to wait for the reviews (are you guys planning one?). A game so basic and bare bones looking needs that magic zen factor in the controls and mechanics or else it's lost. Especially with the long list of puzzlers already available on WiiWare.

You know how we do. :)

I liked the first two, but this one is iffy.
Considering these are basic ports, Nintendo probably could sell the games for cheaper then what they are. like 300 points.
600 points is a lot for a game this basic.

All these art style games look terrible $6 for this crap. Worth about maybe $2.

The first one is wonderful and relaxing, the second one is going to take a little longer to grow me, but I'm at my limits of puzzlers for the moment.

They need to space these games out a bit more, like a minimum of one a month.

I liked this one on the GBA, so I'll probably get it for Wii also.

Nintendo seems kinda uncharacteristically excited about these. "OH MY GOD OH MY GOD WE GOTTA GET THIS OUT RIGHT AWAY AND LET PEOPLE HAVE IT MAN IT'S AWESOME". They need to be slower, and spaced out. Considering they're basically one game mode each (albeit wildly different games), when other games are multiple modes in one for lower prices (such as Tetris Party), they should be much cheaper.
Nintendo also needs to give us some time to get hyped about the game, instead of relying on the mystery factor. It might've worked the first couple times, or if they only used it to release INCREDIBLY feature packed, addictive, quality, and so on games. As it is, though, we're basically only seeing these as they came out.
If Nintendo decides later on to release them in a bundle, Art Style: COLLECTION or something, it would be far more interesting. Come to think of it, make the games capable of auto play as well. Imagine a collection of the various art style games, playing themselves, and occasionally switching from one to the other automatically.
It could very well become the first 'coffee table' game. Something you leave on your TV when you're not using it, and which mainly serves as eye candy. For bonus points, make it possible to start and stop playing at any time you wish, without stopping the game in progress (example: computer is playing, you press "A" to turn the remote back on, and you pick it up as if the computer simply handed you the controller as a friend would) and it could become a conversation piece.
