Dead Rising: We ain't seen nothin' yet?
File this one under a big ol' label of what: apparently, we haven't yet seen the "final" version of Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop. Considering we've seen tons of video and screenshots, and people have actually played it, we're starting to wonder just what's going on. According to Nintendo Everything, where they've got a quote from Seth Killian, a Capcom community manager, the versions people have gotten their hands on at recent shows were nothing more than tech demos, and the final version will have more zombies (and some other unnamed changes). But Killian also says he hasn't played this rumored "final" version.
If "no press or media" has seen the real game, then that must almost certainly include the screenshots ... and why release them if they're not accurate? This sounds like so much smoke being blown that it's tempting to discard it altogether, particularly since Nintendo Everything didn't source the quote. But if this is to be believed, Capcom is still pushing the "100 onscreen zombies" line, which is certainly fine with us!
In the end, while Chop 'Til You Drop will be different from the Xbox 360's original Dead Rising, it still looks like a barrel of bloody fun, and that's probably what matters. But it's certainly weird to have been hot and cold over footage and imagery that isn't representative of the game.

Probably bs, but we'll see for ourselves when the game is released.

Nintendo Everything sucks. They *NEVER* source their quotes. Literally. I don't know why that site fins it so hard to do something both basic and obvious.
Anyway, here is the quote:

(lucky for you I'm on Capcom's boards all the time!)

After a few hours of struggle, i got my linksys wireless router lined up with my college's wired network, so my Wii now has a reliable connection. Anyway, that has led me to learn one thing:
Megaman 9 is hard. Not Magician Lord hard, but harder than Ice Climber hard. It approximates with Wrecking Crew. Some parts you have to memorize, some parts you can improv

Indeed. The final version adds 100 more zombies to the mix. Unfortunately they are always behind you, so you never actually see them....but they are there waiting to feast on your flesh.

Well a knee to the groin of the 360 fanbots is not half as much fun when you tell them you're going to hit them and how hard exactly ...

I had a suspicion that what we were seeing wasn't what we're going to get
I mean, even if what we were seeing was the final version, remember that the difficulty is adjustable, and varies according to the player's level
Of course, this should definitely be taken with a grain of salt

If I understand correctly, this is being built from a different game engine than the 360 version. How do they go about making the same game with two different game engines?
Did they just rebuild the game from scratch basically, but use the same storyline and similar pictures. Of course controls would be improved while graphics would be dumbed down.

Thye just got all the models, maps, textures, scripts and all the things that can be reused, gimped em down a little and tucked em in the game
Capcom, as many other game developers companies, creates their own game engines, so i'm pretty sure most of em are kinda similar one to another, so taking content from one to another won't be much of a hasle

What's hard to believe about it? Don't most screens, demos, etc. usually come with a "doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of the finished product" caveat? I know I've seen it before.
If it is the case it's a smart move. The lower you get people's expectations the better the actual game will seem when it releases.

I want this game to be fun and have good controls like RE4. I don't want to be endlessly swinging my arm chopping through hundreds of zombies! As long as they get the gameplay right I don't care how many zombies are on screen!
Matt @ Oct 20th 2008 8:10AM
So the graphics AREN'T butt-ugly?
Daryl @ Oct 20th 2008 12:38PM
Of course not. People who favor Gameplay (which the wiimote enhances) over graphics can handle it.
