Wii Warm Up: Taking advantage of a sale
Recently, there's been a lot of sales for Wii games and accessories. That's a very good thing, because we love games and new hardware almost as much as we love saving money. What we want to know is have you taken advantage of one of the many sales recently and what have you picked up? Grabbed yourself a new game? Picked up a new peripheral? What was the last thing you picked up for your Wii?

I was planning on picking up a few of the $12 Wii Point cards from Toys R Us over the weekend, but they were sold out online the whole time
:(
Jason @ Oct 14th 2008 8:28AM
Wii points were sold out at 5 local Toys R Us stores for me as well. No Perfect Shots either.
A couple of months ago I picked up Zack and Wiki for $9.98. More recently I grabbed Blast Works at BB for $10, No More Heroes at Amazon for $16, Midway Pinball for $13 and Geometry Wars last Sunday at TRU for $9.98.
It has been a good season.

I grabbed the last Wii points card at Toys R Us this weekend, along with a classic controller and Geometry Wars Galaxies. I was going to do the buy 2 get 1 free, but they didn't have Resident Evil 4 and there weren't 2 other games that I really wanted all that badly.
I also got a used Wii ethernet adapter from gamestop. Not a sale, but still the last Wii accessory I've bought and still not full price.

Three Wii Points cards @ Toys R Us yesterday. Ended up costing me about $10 worth of gas to drive there and back (2 out of 3 stores within driving distance were out of Points cards), but I saved $24 on the cards, so I still came out well ahead on the deal.
RSL @ Oct 14th 2008 8:49AM
We lucked out. Got 4000 wii points for 25 bucks basically. Then when in with a friend on the buy two get a third free. Friend got Twilight Princess, we [roommate and I] got de Blob, and we're [friend and my and my roommate] sharing Super Smash Bros Brawl. Man that's a lot of gaming. [Sorry for the confusion over "we" there. At least I didn't pun "Wii" in there some how.]
Monkey Thing?!!? @ Oct 14th 2008 9:10AM
I'll be waiting for Samba de Amigo to drop, i think. half-price would be totally worth it.
capbarclay @ Oct 14th 2008 9:12AM
I jumped on the Toys'R'Us sale online, grabbing 6000 Wii points ($35!), Force Unleashed, NHL 2K9, and SSBB with the 3 for 2 deal. Which means I'm probably on the sidelines until Rock Band 2 comes out mid-November. Except for using those Wii points. Tetris party, here I come.
Sean wo an H @ Oct 14th 2008 10:59AM
Snagged two Wii points cards... three classic SNES games and World of Goo :D.
Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who grabbed that $10 Geometry Wars at TRU. It's very nice...

I just bought Lego Batman, I LOVE THE LEGO GAMES!!!!!
sjames7 @ Oct 14th 2008 9:23AM
I grabbed 3 $20 WiiPoints cards from the Toys'R'Us sale like others. Came to just over $40 after tax and shipping (I'm lazy and gas is expensive, but mostly I'm lazy). It was pretty much a "Buy Two Get One Free WiiPoints Cards" deal. Can't pass that up with all the good things Nintendo has been making available lately.
mattvolpi @ Oct 14th 2008 9:45AM
I was in Toyr R Us for something non-Wii related, a salesperson asked me if I needed any help and I jokingly asked if they had any Wii Fit in stock. They did, and then I jumped on the buy 2-get-1-free offer on games since Wii Fit counts as a game.
TuAmigoAlejandro @ Oct 14th 2008 9:51AM
I typically wait for sales (Amazon lightning deals, Toys "R" Us Buy Two Get One Free, etc.), so, this latest sale from Toys "R" Us brought a sparkle to my eyes!
I picked up 9 games for the price of 6 ($325, yowsah!), including:
de Blob
Super Paper Mario
Mario Kart Wii
Wario Land: Shake It!
Boom Blox
MLB Power Pros 2008
LEGO Batman
LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga

Wario Land: Shake It!
GatorBeerGeek @ Oct 14th 2008 10:00AM
I made use of the B2G1 at TRU to pick up de Blob, Warioland Shake It, and Lego Batman. I added in a pack of tic tacs to throw me over $100 so I could use a $10 off $100 coupon I got in the mail. I also had a $5 off $25 coupon from the mail. For good measure I also used a $3 gift card I got in the mail for my kids birthday. I got all that for under $90 with tax :)
I do not know if that deal tops the 10 Wii Points cards I got at a Wal-Mart for $5 a piece. They were the combos with the classic controller gloves that the put on clearance.
N. Mayer @ Oct 16th 2008 11:07AM
Those were the same 3 games I picked up at TRU... just wanted to say that I'm jealous of your awesome extra savings!
When did you pick up the Wii points cards at Walmart? TRU was out of Wii Points cards so I missed out on their 40% off deal.
wutdaheckman @ Oct 14th 2008 10:08AM
Last games I bought were at the Last Last Toys R Us sale. Where certain games were 50% off starting at 3pm.
I picked up Fire Emblem. Bought Mega Man 9 that day as well.
The next game I get full price will probably be Tales, Sam and Max and Shining Force 2. ( wheres phantasy star 4???)

Picked up the door busters a couple of weeks ago at TRU. Snagged a Fire Emblem and Metroid! Haven't even played Metroid yet... been too into Fire Emblem.
CamranChaos @ Oct 14th 2008 1:08PM
I picked up LEGO Batman and Wario Land: Shake It for $75 at Circuit City yesterday. I've almost run out of games to buy before the end of the year!
Zardus @ Oct 14th 2008 3:43PM
I went down to Toys R Us here right before it closed on Monday (so that I didn't feel guilty about depriving others of the sale) and bought every single Wii points card they had left. $168 for 28,000 Wii points! Every WiiWare game for the forseeable future is going to be 40% off for me :-)
Sonic_13 @ Oct 15th 2008 2:43AM
Wow 28,000 points? That's awesome.
Did Nintendo let you redeem all of those at once or is there a limit to how many Wii Points you can have in your account?
Zardus @ Oct 15th 2008 2:56AM
I didn't redeem them all yet. From what I understand, the cards don't expire, while I'm not sure about the points themselves. Plus, I want to use some of these cards as gifts in the future. A few people I know own a Wii and 1.5 WiiWare games or so (1 card) is a pretty decent gift :-)
Q-Kid-Kyle @ Oct 14th 2008 4:02PM
hmmm...the last thing i gotwas an sd card so I could do homebrew - then I realized I needed a SD card reader. Now, homebrew is fun
leonus11 @ Oct 14th 2008 4:31PM
i just picked up 2000 Wii points for 15$ yesterday! yep! there was a store with 25% off ANY merchandise! then i downloaded (and paid for of course thru the Wiishop channel) megaman and Sin & Punishment (N64)!
blackbird @ Oct 14th 2008 5:39PM
Picked up MoH:H2 for $19.99, as well as De blob and Wario Land during B2G1 free.
ExMegalomaniac @ Oct 14th 2008 11:46PM
I bought Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles at Toys r Us when they were 50% off. And just this weekend 2 Wii Points cards for $25.75, would've gotten 3 if I had a few extra bucks. Oddly enough, during that Toys r Us sale with the accessories 40% off, it didn't include memory cards. I wasn't buying one, but there was another guy there trying to buy one and they told him it wasn't on sale. The guy argued that they were on sale online, why not in the store? I'd have fought that one if it were me, the add didn't exclude memory cards.
tacoman @ Oct 15th 2008 9:10AM
I got Wii Fit last month as an early birthday gift for myself and downloaded Rockman 9. Pokemon Platinum remains untouched in the meantime. And I'm getting DSi in about 2 weeks. Wonderful.
