Suda considering MotionPlus, online play for No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle

"Give us MotionPlus!"
That seemed to be the most popular response when we asked you what changes you'd make to No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle. Luckily for us, Goichi Suda seems to agree (does he read Wii Fanboy reader comments? If so, hai, Suda!). Speaking to IGN (hit the break for the full video interview), the maverick developer discussed how he'd like to utilise Wii MotionPlus in the No More Heroes follow-up, despite not having touched the add-on yet. 1:1 beam katana action? Um, yes please.
He's also "very interested" in online play, though sounded slightly less committed to the idea when he discussed it with CVG, describing it as "still up in [the] air." We'd probably take MotionPlus over some online mode, though if Suda feels like adding both to Travis' next outing, we suppose we can accept that as well.

I thought it would be cool if when Travis and Henry were fighting they both decided to kill sylvia, and the 2P had an option of being henry.

One thing I liked Bionic Commando Rearmed was how the game changed tactics and methods of combat depending on if it was 1p or 2p.
I bring this up cause it would be interesting of the game had an old-school and new-school combat tactics and methods of fighting guys depending on if you had Wii-Motion Plus or not. You could almost make No More Heroes two different games that way, one being a sequel to the original, and another being a faithful lightsaber battling game, yet both being the same game.

iirc, he was considering online for the original, too, and that never materialized (although he is probably being given a bigger budget to work with this time around, so we'll see)
Motion Plus is a given, but market penetration might be a problem there. How well it takes off is critical to the future of a lot of ideally motion plussed games
I'm replaying the game on the middle difficulty (forget what its called, between sweet and bitter), and am having a lot of fun with optimal upgrades for infinite battery life, and for freaking out my roommates.

Hopefully both come into fruition. They sound awesome.

Am i like the only one that DOESN'T want to see online and 1:1 beam saber controls for NMH2? One thing i loved about the original is it didnt add waggle for waggle's sage i thought it blended the button presses with the Wii motion control perfectly, unlike Zelda: TP. And what the hell would you do with Online play? Multiplayer? How would that work? Compete in stupid minigames with other players? No thanks.
Monkey Thing?!!? @ Oct 14th 2008 3:16PM
Motion Plus wouldn't necessitate all-waggle combat. Suda could easily implement something like "Hold C to use full-motion attack! This attack is useful in cases x, y, and z"
His ability to tastefully incorporate motion in moderation gives me faith that he can continue to do so

not sure about online multiplayer... but leaderboards would be a cool idea.

Suda51: "You betcha, doggone it" *wink*

i'd say yes to both options. the motionplus is a definite since it'll make swordplay action a breeze. swing up for up slash, down for down slash, right for right slash and left for left slash. honestly now, if someone has trouble using the Wiimote with the motionplus attached then you REALLY need to work on your swings! that or you need to get up, stop being lazy and swing. its like i said before you can't expect to be lazy with a console that requires you to be active! also the online will be a great and welcomed addition to NMH:DS. all ninty has to do is get a team to work on the servers (or however it is that you go about making online gameplay better and lag and freeze free). hopefully somebody in NoA (or is it NoJ?) will get busy on that subject.

Umm the second link you listed (Online play) was for the first No More Heroes.
Monkey Thing?!!? @ Oct 14th 2008 10:03PM
That's what i meant. He had plans for it in the first game, but they clearly fell through

NMH is my favortie game on the wii, and to hear this, and the other realease about 'improved graphics' and 'busier santa destory', i don't kno whether to be happy or sad. the first game had such charm in tha fact that it didn't have all of the things that it was trying to resent. see this article to understand what the heck im talking about...

(that article blew my mind, and made me love this game that much more)

Love the first one!
Cant wait for this one!
There's many people complaining about the lack of games for the Wii... I dont. Gimme one cool game a month and I'm fine! I have a life... ahahahhaha!
mk @ Oct 14th 2008 9:18PM
So....Is it coming to the wii for sure?
Thanatos @ Oct 14th 2008 9:30PM
Yes it is confirmed to be yet again a Wii Exclusive.
wiilover @ Oct 15th 2008 8:16PM
yes yes yes! is that even something to be considered?
wiilover @ Oct 15th 2008 8:18PM
oooo n co op

Motion plus? Screw it. The controls was one of the best things with the first game. I really don't feel like playing a Wii Sports: No More Heroes edition.
Having to swing your arm in the wild, or just like in Zelda:TP is... blergh, honestly. But, sure, throw in an option for Motion Plus. I'm happy as long as the original controls stay.
