DS Daily: Castlevania: Double Order of Games

Does the promise of Ecclesia's awesomeness make Judgment any more of a purchase candidate for you? Or are you willing to do without the connection bonuses?

No no no...
Simon Belmont (first one on the first row) is Light Yagami/Kira.
Dovi @ Oct 14th 2008 8:55PM
You say that like it's a bad thing.
The best part of judgment is getting to beat up Misa.
Dio @ Oct 17th 2008 9:55PM
That's because Obata did the art :V

Not so much. Judgement looks and sounds kinda dumb. I love all of the DS Castlevania games, and fully intend to pick this one up, but probably without Judgement.
Santos L. Halper @ Oct 13th 2008 10:18AM
I'm buying OoE on release day but I'm just going to rent judgement, and only for the connection bonuses.
Zealot @ Oct 13th 2008 10:47AM
I'm waiting until it goes clearance to buy it, and even then, the purchase will be out of a sick curiosity to see just how bad the game is and not because I have any interest in playing. In the meantime, I'll also rent it for the connection bonuses because I have a bad feeling that whatever items it gives in OoE are factored into the 1000% completion score.
And adding to the list of Death Note lookalikes, Shanoa really, really looks like Misora Naomi. Dracula would be Yagami Soichiro if his hair was short. Death is cobbled together from Ryuk, Rem, and Jastin the Jewel Skeleton.
Zealot @ Oct 13th 2008 10:53AM
Oh, I just remembered that the unlockable (levels 100-255) is also available through beating OoE on hard mode. I suppose that I just saved myself $7 in rental fees.

Shaona looks like an ugly soulless shell in Judgement compared to what we've seen in Order Of Ecclesia.
Flint @ Oct 13th 2008 11:29AM
Shaona?? The character in Order of Ecclesia is called Shanoa. Spelling mistake or is this supposed to be her sister or something?
rikki @ Oct 13th 2008 11:45AM
It's an error.
Though I kind of like your idea though. Her floaty stance and blank stare plus the incredibly stupid spelling mistake really make me think "Shanoa's brain-damaged sister, Shaona" instead of Shanoa...

Not sure if this is right, but it seems that my friend has already spotted OoE at a gamestop in Killeen, TX. I'm going to have to ask him for confirmation, I think he might have mistaken it for a display box.

Honestly it has zero effect. When Judgment was announced it pissed me off that Konami yet again with another generation of Nintendo consoles they were giving us owners the shaft. Then was my worst idea of it came to light last week with a SOTN sequel/spinoff coming on everything but Nintendo on the homefront yet again. If I were even wavering on that Wii game, it's outright off the table now.
Personally as it stands now I'm no longer going to support Konami on the console end period. Until they stop playing games and recognize the industry leader and give it some A game stuff not B- to C level crap I'm done with them. I can deal with just using select DS and PSP titles, but they're dead to me otherwise. If Eclessia doesn't tickle my fancy either then I'll just write them off as a dead memory of the past. The most depressing part is I wouldn't feel bad about it at all anymore.
Shoyz @ Oct 13th 2008 5:22PM
I thought it was a new Death Note game at first. ):
yomachaser @ Oct 13th 2008 8:36PM
You guys are so ungrateful! You act like the DS (& gba) games haven't been great.
One gaiden game that looks like some light fun and you're ready to crucify (the irony) IGA and company.
The characters in Judgement look like stuff from Death Note...and what exactly is wrong with that?
All manga artists have a distinct look. So no matter what artist they had draw this if it wasn't Kojima you guys were going to shit on it?
Or is there something inherently wrong with Obata's (is that his name) art?
J.K. @ Oct 13th 2008 9:42PM
The problem is that Konami seems to have this blind stupidity and/or hatred towards Nintendo consoles. They were ok with N64 but not that great, and on the GC they gave them nearly the complete shaft for no good reason at all as they had the same market share as xbox and they got the support (along with the obvious ps2 due to ratio.) Now on the Wii we're getting low rent shovelware and tacky spinoffs instead of doing the right thing.
It has less to do with the possibly quality of Judgment and mostly about the fact we as Wii owners don't get the real stuff (the true Castlevania among other good franchises.)
Zealot @ Oct 13th 2008 9:51PM
Certainly no one is criticizing Obata for having a distinct art style. He can do unique characters within his own artistic parameters just as well as any other artist, but I haven't seen anyone compare his Castlevania character designs to characters from any of his other works like, for instance, Hikaru no Go or Bakuman, nor can I right offhand make any instant character design associations from either of these. People see a resemblance to Death Note characters because, well, there's a fairly striking resemblance. I don't think anyone is saying it's intentional, but I also don't think they are, or I am, imagining it.
aj @ Oct 13th 2008 9:52PM
I don't own a Wii, which makes me sad, because I'd enjoy some unlockable content.
On the other hand, a Castlevania fighting game? Why not beach volleyball or "Belmont Soduku"?
