First look at Sonic and the Black Knight

And here's the other Sonic game. After this morning's gameplay trailer of Sonic Unleashed achieved the seemingly impossible and impressed us, this Sonic and the Black Knight footage wasn't quite as jaw-dropping.

It looks like most other 3D Sonic games since the first Sonic Adventure, in that's it's very fast and very whizzy, and appears to restrict levels of player input. It could, potentially, be fun, but we're still not sold on the idea of tying Sonic into Arthurian legend, or even equipping him with weapons. Mind you, Sonic with a talking sword is still preferable to Shadow with a gun. Sheesh, we just remembered Shadow is in this and depressed ourselves.

To me, this looks far superior to Unleashed.

...but then, I'm among the few who thought Secret Rings was a great game.

I agree. Black Knight looks a lot better than Unleashed. Secret Rings was awesome too.

Looks exactly like Secret Rings, but with a sword.

Not a bad thing, though. They just have a few kinks to smooth out (like letting you see what's behind you when you go in reverse) and they're good.

Black Knight actually looks pretty good. I like the look of the gameplay better than Sonic Unleashed. From what very little I've seen, the sword seems to work well with the "traditional" Sonic gameplay.

I think Sega has the right idea with this series of Sonic games (Secret Rings, Black Knight). After this game gets released, I wonder what they will think of next...

I wish they would get away from this fantasy setting stuff and make it more like a classic Sonic game, level wise. Redo Green hill Zone or Chemical Plant Zone or something like that.
...especially since it's pretty obvious that the 'mainline' Sonic games are now apparently set in the real world.

It's kinda trippy how Mario in a tennis/golf/RPG doesn't feel the least bit awkward, but Sonic running around with a talking sword reeks of booze and furry fanfics.

Oh, err, as for the game trailer, the game looks pretty decent-- almost like Bushido Blade 2's Slash Mode with furries and an over-the-shoulder camera.

umm mario in a golf/rpg/kart racing game is completely different. this is still a sonic platformer and people want a sonic platformer to be traditional to the series.

if a mario platforming game was about him using a bid broad sword to kill goombas or bunch of enemies never in the series before people wouldnt like that either. imagine how lame it would be if nintendo suddenly released a mario platformer where he used a gun, or rode a horse, or used a water gun/jetpack 90% of the time.... oh wait.

i swear i'm putting away 70$ MAX for this game! this game looks so fricken SWEET!! also i agree with many of the people saying that websites need to play the game before they start bad mouthing it. then again if they hate the game (for w.e reason even though they honestly know they like the game) then they'll just keep bad mouthing it. meh, what can you do.

NWF, what in the hell is wrong with you? Go back and rewatch that Sonic Unleashed video - it looks like a slightly higher poly first gen PS2 game with worse textures and this awful 'lose half your speed whenever you land' thing going for it. And the object clipping, ugh.

This, on the other hand, is looking MUCH better. Visually, at least. They aren't even in the same league.

I think this looks really good. even though it looks like sega is getting desperate, I think the are trying to keep sonic fresh. I mean look at zelda, nintendo is looking to keep it new and fun with the next game even though they have done the same thing in it for almost 20 years.

Well where just gonna have to wait and see if the game is a bust or an epic fail. If u read the comic books sonic is weilding a sword. So to me its no different then Mario using a talking water gun ^^. I think this game is one of the best looking game's on the wii. Lets hope is a good one.
