TGS08: Monster Hunter 3 features Classic Controller support, split-screen coop
So, here's some gameplay footage of Monster Hunter 3 (tri-). It's so incredibly gorgeous that we didn't mind typing out Monster Hunter 3 (tri-), which we've just done a second time. It looks pretty far beyond what is expected from a Wii game. Most importantly, it still looks like Monster Hunter.
It should be great comfort to Monster Hunter fans (also known as Japan) to learn that it should play like Monster Hunter, as well. Capcom revealed Classic Controller support for the sequel at TGS. We fully expect a specially-branded Monster Hunter 3 Classic Controller to appear soon. They also revealed that two players can play together in a split-screen mode while offline. The screen is divided horizontally.

Will this be online? If so, then best day ever.
Suichimo @ Oct 9th 2008 11:49AM
Yep. And if Capcom makes good on their promise, at this point I'm expecting it, it will be just like the PS2 version which means absolutely no friend codes.
Malg @ Oct 9th 2008 11:34AM
I've yet to play a Monster Hunter game but I hope this comes to the US on the Wii.
Mr Khan @ Oct 9th 2008 11:54AM
Like i said elsewhere, Wii just won TGS by default, a total victory for Nintendo if Square Enix carts out Dragon Quest IX
Suichimo @ Oct 9th 2008 11:58AM
I do believe Square was supposed to show DQIX at TGS this year, it just isn't playable.

pussy! you should have put full motion controls, capcom!
that's what the wii is all about. a new way to play games. not a new way to play games and oh! here's an option. blah! i guess this will satisfy the whiners.
but when wii motion plus comes out. there should be no more options. it's motion or no motion at all.
CJLopez @ Oct 9th 2008 2:11PM
Giving options is expanding the way can play and acostume to playing a game
Forcing a player to play one way a game sometime makes the gamer angry and gives bad review about it (NMH, SW:TFU) but giving multiple option is to make to gamer fell comfortable with the way he wants it (Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Brother Melee)
We all know Wii is about the new way to play games, but still, giving options to play the game its a good way to atract more sales

ahhh, music to my ears. well....kinda since most of my friends are Wiihaters stating that its simply "not doing as good as i hoped it will. it just to weak of a system and it limits a DEVS creativity". i told them that the ps2 was the weakest of its GEN and i did SUPERB but they still refuse to listen. and that leads me back to once again saying that i won't be playing OFFLINE co-op since all i have for friends are Wiihaters. BUT i will be playing ALOT online.
Kenology18 @ Oct 9th 2008 4:16PM
Your friends have an extremely weak argument. Wii's lack of GPU/CPU processing power limits devs creativity? Lack of processing power never stopped devs from being creative on the NES. You had to be, as you couldn't use graphics as a crutch to hide bland gameplay.
Anyways, you and I will exchange friends codes (if the game even uses them) and go monster slaying next year. Screw your snobcore friends!

ooh split screen is a nice touch. i used to go over to my buddy's house and play online with him on his big screen, which was able to make a split screen out of two different inputs, so we had two ps2's plugged into a router. haha, it worked well but this new feature can make it possible for anyone. im wondering if the split screen mode can be played online, doesnt sound like it from the post but that would be awesome as well.
oh man, it is going to be a long year and a half (probably) before this finally gets to the US...

Nintendo and Capcom have already stated that they are working with a Japanese server to host the files for MH3 online, so friend-codes will not be needed for online play (ala-MH on ps2).
