WiiSpeak Channel dated for Europe
Wii lovers and fans of speakerphones across Europe, the WiiSpeak Channel has been dated for your region. The Channel and peripheral will debut alongside Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City on December 5th, less than a month after North America receives the game and service. Sadly, there's no word on what the bundle will cost you and if it'll be much more expensive than the bundle we're getting in North America. We'd like to think it will cost around the same, but we know how you guys get the shaft sometimes.
Ever since it was revealed back at E3, WiiSpeak has been the talk (both good and bad) of the town. Check out our hands-on time with the device, as well as the details you may have missed on the WiiSpeak Channel. Plan on picking one up? Then you might want to check out Game Night, where you'll surely be able to chat with your fellow Wii lovers in the future.

Sometimes? Always.

I think sometimes is more appropriate. Definitely not always. Europe got access to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for Wii before the US (we got finally got our first Wi-Fi game about 2-3 months after you) and you guys are also getting Disaster: Day of Crisis before the US.
Roddie @ Oct 7th 2008 4:14PM
When it comes to price, Europe is always more expensive than North America.
Josh @ Oct 7th 2008 5:02PM
And anyway, our economy is shot, so things simply *have* to be lower priced over here (US).
Roddie @ Oct 7th 2008 5:11PM
That has nothing to do with it, the pricing situation has always been like this. And anyway, do you seriously think that the US is the only place suffering from the credit crunch??
Sonic_13 @ Oct 7th 2008 5:32PM
Yeah. The shape of the US economy won't affect the prices of this stuff. It will only affect the quantity of supply as Nintendo will divert supply to other territories if it can earn more in doing so.

I really would like to know more about this channel. From what I initially heard (albeit coming through Japanese translations) is that the channel would support up to four people talking at once.
However, in IGN's interview with Cammie Dunaway, she implied that there would be four rooms to chat in, which no limit as to the number of people that could chat in each room. She also said (which I am excited about, if true) that you could start slideshows and share photos with others in the channel while you chat with them. I particularly like this feature and hope it is true as it adds some really useful functionality. Just chatting is fine, but being able to share photo slideshows is excellent.
Mr Khan @ Oct 7th 2008 4:21PM
Hmm. From what i remember, unlimited number of people meaning if you can cram three friends and four family members in one room who all have Miis, they can all communicate through your Mic, and you can be linked to up to three other Wiis
But i'm not sure. Just a wait-n-see thing anyway.
Sonic_13 @ Oct 7th 2008 4:25PM
Ah, that's true. I forgot about the community mic aspect of it all. That's probably it and it does make sense with what she said.
I do hope that the photo sharing part is true though.

When Mrs. Dunaway said "four rooms", I thought she meant the actual rooms where the Wii and Wii Speak are located, not four virtual chat rooms in the Wii. If I'm correct, that means up to four Wiis can be connected via this new channel, but since Wii Speak uses a "conference-call" type of room microphone, virtually an unlimited number of people could participate in the chat (e.g. 4 people at your house, 12 people at my house, etc.).
ramuji @ Oct 7th 2008 5:26PM
Late on that one. Wii Fanboy wouldn't show me Mr Khan's comment, so it turns out I posted unnecessarily.
Fie on this comment system!
Sonic_13 @ Oct 7th 2008 5:34PM
Indeed. It appears I misinterpreted it to be like Pictochat with the four rooms.
Also, I too am finding that a lot of comments aren't appearing when they should. It seems to happen when the comments are relatively new, as older comments always appear. It's a weird problem that I hope someone fixes.
