A whole bunch of videos from The Conduit
Aside from some new screens, as well as a video walkthrough of the entire first level, we've not seen much on The Conduit lately. Well, today brings us a bounty of fresh videos, so those of you who have been jonesing for a fix on High Voltage's upcoming shooter, look no further. Hit up the video above, then head past the break for several more.

I'm still a bit sad that those videos look so poorly not from the game but from the compression quality. I bet this game will live up to the expectactions once it's front of my face. Really something to look forward to as a Wii owner.
Sonic_13 @ Oct 7th 2008 1:40PM
Seriously! It's about time they started showing off this game. :P
In all seriousness though, this game really does look great, even in the above videos. I'm glad someone is finally pushing the Wii to it's limit.

I'm glad there are companies that aren't being lazy with game development on wii.
"continue reading A whole bunch of videos from the conduit"
awesome.

I would love to see a "The-Conduit" channel on the Wii - just like they had for MP3 before its launch. Lot's of videos available directly from the Wii ... *drools*
If Nintendo really is the publisher I bet we can look forward to this. I had to delete my Nintendo Channel. I was running out of space (go figure!) and was amazed when I realised just how much memory that sucker was hogging!

the ai looks incredibly primitive and stupid....probably to compensate for the floaty wii controls
Orion @ Oct 7th 2008 5:24PM
Floaty?
Personally I think trying to aim by praying two joysticks turn me in time is floaty. Have you not played through MP3? If it was possible to play it with a classic controller, you'd realize how bad you'd do at the game in comparison.
It always makes me wonder why people like you troll Fanboy sites. I love all my systems, but if you don't like a system, does it really make you feel good to come in and rustle feathers? You honestly just make yourself look uneducated. Like the system or not, pointer controls are more accurate than joysticks. Any educated gamer, despite what their favorite console is, will tell you that.
Regarding AI, no it's not going to be as advanced as a PC or the other two consoles... duh, there's less horsepower. Thank you captain obvious. However, if you bothered to watch the other videos that weren't just a free for all in a room, you'd realize they programed the enemies to do many things you don't usually see in Nintendo FPS.
Get a clue, do some research.

Although those comments are clearly biased, he does have point. The lack of power in the wii means that the AI in all wii FPSs is incredibly poor.
Say what you want about gameplay vs power; in reality power often equals gameplay. It still annoys me that nothing on the wii comes CLOSE to the AI or setpieces, or level design of years-old shooters like half-life and Halo. In those cases it was the power of the technology that drew you in.
I really like my wii for games like Galaxy, MK, da blob, but its FPSs are incredibly poor (excluding MP3 which is more Zelda than Doom). And the whole issue of dead bodies disappearing? Its lazy if they do. Look at Medal of Honor Heroes 2...the bodies disappereaed AS YOU SHOT THEM - perhaps the least immersive experience I've had on wii.
Can't wait to be able to afford to play Bioshock, Orange Box et al on a 360.
Come on N - get you act together.
meist3r @ Oct 8th 2008 8:17AM
@Robbie Cooke: Since the AI is nothing else but some algorithms that figure out where the respective "entities" in the game world should be, where they move and what they do it's the least of hardware power you'll need. The most demanding task is to constantly control and tweak the flow of data in the limited memory of the Wii, you can't just put half the disc in textures on the system somewhere. During the E3 demo they said that they do their demo videos in the easiest difficulty. Probably just to have it easier showing stuff off. If you had to do the same one level sequence 50 or more times for different journalists etc. they certainly wouldn't try to go through the painstaking task of beating the same enemies on "Legendary/Nightmare".
And btw. these are videos from a game you and I haven't played yet that will be released in almost a year! I don't make any judgments about either controls or gameplay before I get to play it. I reckon I've seen all video footage on the net about Conduit (there's only a good dozen anyway) and it seems to me that they devoted an especially large part of attention to the control scheme.

@Robbie Cooke
I know what you mean by body stay time. In Dead Rising on the 360, zombie corpses usually stayed until you went to a new area. In the Wii version, they stay for about 2 seconds.
And yes, BioShock and Orange Box are awesome.
Grady @ Oct 7th 2008 6:21PM
Not to rip on the game, but it seems that there are a lot of tight quartered hallway fights and not as many open area fights, from what I've seen. Hopefully it is more open space and less flat in the final.
Other than that I seriously cannot wait to pick this game up. It will probably be really good.
snapgenius1 @ Oct 7th 2008 8:05PM
The one thing that has bothered me in these videos is the fact that the bodies disappear about 3 seconds after you kill the enemies. Is it out of the Wii's reach to just keep the bodies on the screen?
leonus11 @ Oct 7th 2008 9:30PM
@snapgenius1
don't you think that your WAY to concerned about such small things, such as bodies disappearing instead of remaining? it doesn't change the fun factor of the game at all. its happened in many games such as HALO 2 for the original XBOX and i'm more then POSITIVE that the original XBOX could handle bodies remaining on the floor. and if the XBOX could handle it then the GCN could certainly handle it. and if the GCN could handle it then the Wii can MOST DEFINITELY handle it, so no its not that its out of the Wii's reach its just that DEVS feel its not that important to have bodies remaining after death. its pointless to do so.
Orion @ Oct 8th 2008 12:30AM
I never liked the dead bodies staying on the ground because in some shooters they aren't really dead, and get back up a few seconds after being totally lifeless looking. Always ticked me off cause i'd shoot the dead bodies when they were on the ground just to make sure they were dead :D. Freaked the heck out of me lol, which is one reason I generally don't play FPS.. most of which kinda creep me out. Even MP3, as much as I love the controls, I still haven't finished it :).
leonus11 @ Oct 8th 2008 2:13AM
@ Orion
well theres always a significant way to tell if their dead you know lol! like if they're in a pool of their own blood. an MP3 they just disappear. lmao well to each his own i guess. still i prefer them to disappear.
Timerider @ Oct 8th 2008 10:39AM
Nice, runs smooth. Reminds me of Prey.
