Playing invisible instruments more complex than you think
That's according to Reggie Fils-Aime, at least. The Nintendo bossman thinks that his company did Wii Music a big disservice when it was displayed at E3, and feels the game is a lot more complex than people realize.
In fact, Reggie believes that Wii Music, like all the best music games, will be simple to pick up, but a tricky beast to master. "We may have done that title an injustice at E3 by showing something that looked so easy," stated Fils-Aime to technology and media site Venturebeat. "Now we're showing the tremendous variety of instruments and tones and how challenging it is to make music that sounds good."
Reggie also revealed that Nintendo expects Wii Music to become one of the "top sellers" on the system. We can totally believe that, but "challenging"? Really? We don't want to jump conclusions without a few major Wii Music sessions, but these assertions do seem to go against the evidence we've seen so far.

well sure it will sell well, but the big N needs to return to making games that people will want to pick back up in 4 months. I can't imagine it will stick with people more than Wii Fit.

"the big N needs to return to making games that people will want to pick back up in 4 months."
The Big N never stopped making such games. That's why we have games like Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Sin & Punishment 2, Punch-Out!!, Diaster: Day of Crisis, etc. Those aren't for the casual crowd.

So all i have to do is make a Wii Music song called "Damnit you'd better give us Disaster and Fatal Frame IV, or we'll kick YOUR ass and take YOUR name," and he'll do it?
Sweet.

Doesn't really phase me.
I've already decided that every game with the acronym "Wii" in the title is going to be an overhyped mess, with only one of them being truly bad. I'm not going to say what it is since I'm posting on Nintendo Wii Fanboy.
It's not Wii Play, either.

Why the freak did I say Acronym? Whatever, anything with the word "Wii" in the title is bound to be an over hyped mess.

Actually, after watching Miyamoto's presentation at the latest conference, I agree with Reggie's statement that making something sound good in Wii Music is going to be more difficult than we think, especially when playing in groups. However, I am concerned about the song selection.
Anyway, I'll have my answers in about 10 days.

i thought they did a big disservice by showing it at E3 - i mean dang didn't you guys here how bad it sounded?.....they didn't do it much justice. and seriously if it comes down to select song - mash buttons when you feel like it then ill stick to GH which actually also kind of equals pick song - mash buttons.....but wiimusic just looks like a kids thing - something that doesnt take skill. Just kind of a "we move one space at a time, that way no one loses" kind of feel.

The thing I hate most about Wii Music has nothing to do with the game itself. The game is fine. It has to do with the fact that all the "harcore gamers" know this game isn't aimed towards them, yet they criticize it anyway for being what it is. They're practically obsessed with it and just can't seem to get past the fact that a game exists that wasn't designed at all with them in mind.
Get over it! This game isn't for you. There are other people who play games too.
Why is it that Nintendo can never seem to make a game for the casual crowd without a huge uproar. It's not like the so called "hardcore" gamers are being ignored. That's why games like Sin & Punishment 2, Punch-Out!!, Kid Icarus, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Smash Bros., Twilight Princess, etc. are made.
