DS Daily: Ware Down

But for fun, let's assume it's a service for downloading games, just like WiiWare. Are there any WiiWare games you'd like to see adapted to the small screens? Defend Your Castle? Orbient? Anything as long as it isn't Protöthea?

Dependant on how big the storage is, I'd love to see a portable version of FFCC, or something similar with connectivity. I could see it working if it was a port or something similar, and you could take your kingdom out with you, then bring it back and put it on your Wii again. Kind of like synching a phone or something like that.

I'd imagine the storage limit is as big as your SD card and how big of an SD card the DSi will support.

All I want is transferable VC games (anything but N64 games, I'm guessing). Two reasons: one, it would sortof force Nintendo to switch over to an account system to keep track of your Nintendo Points so that you can verify you own the game after you transfer it to the DS, and two, because it would simply be sweet. Especially if you could transfer your game data back and forth between the DS and Wii copies of the game so you can take Super Metroid with you and work on it some, and then transfer it back to the Wii and play it some more where you left off.

My sentiments exacty... just let us take the VC on the road. (fine if no n64 & neo geo)

I was hoping the same thing. And while emulation on the current DS is pretty good, it can't be done perfectly due to hardware limitations. One such limitation is the screen resolution itself. I was hoping the larger screens of the DSi would also be capable of the full resolution of the NES, SNES, and Genesis, but it's exactly the same 256x192 as the DS and DS Lite. Besides that, without some upgrade in processing hardware, the DS isn't capable of fully emulating the home consoles at full (read: playable) speed. About the only one that could really be done is the NES. Honestly, I think we'll have to wait for the DS2 before we'll really see this happen.

The DS is PERFECT for LostWinds. For serious.
How is Nintendo planning on exerting "more control" over this than WiiWare? They exert so much on WiiWare that it's hard for me to imagine.

I was thinking more along the lines of the internal storage, because I can see the SD card being like it is in the Wii, pretty damn useless. Well, except for music, but who uses AAC?

I'd like to see a decent port of SEGA's Alien Syndrome arcade game. There has never been a decent home port of this classic game. It's a simple enough game but all previous ports have mostly been total cack! There was a PS2 port as part of the SEGA classics release but they totally fooked it up. There's a new version on the Wii/PSP but this bare's little resemblance to the classic original. I'd just like to see a faithful port of the arcade. It should be easy enough in this day & age. The DS is perfect for it.

How about... a translated Mother3?
Hint hint.

Haha, so Orbital goes from GBA to Wii as Orbient, and now you want it back on the GBA-less DS as DS Ware?
Yes! Let's make money!

If it gets Mega Man 9, I will buy a DSi.
