Let's tap the Let's Tap box
Do you reside in a house with no flat surfaces whatsoever? Do you awake in your hammock every morning surrounded by nothing but domed, conic or pyramidal furniture? Then good luck playing Let's Tap, chump! As we've already seen, Prope's new game is played by resting the Wiimote face down on a flat surface, and then tapping on said surface to complete minigames.
It's barmy and utterly gorgeous, and will also come ingeniously packaged in a box which doubles up as a convenient flat surface for you to play on. We doubt you have a single flat surface in your home as stylish as this.

Mmnn, well I don't want be negative, but let's be honest, this looks horribly gimmicky. Stylish presentation aside (and even that's probably just a result of laziness), it's still looks like nothing more than another shallow minigame compilation, the likes of which we were hoping we were moving away from, but now with annoying shaking replaced with annoying.... tapping.... The very fact that it needs its own flat surface shows how contrived and unnecessary it is and has been made purely for the silly, gimmicky aspect. Things the Wii development environment needs like a hole in the head.
More and more I do worry that a fart-sensing controller is only one short horrible "innovative" step away.

I know! I *hate* that it needs its own flat surface. I already had to buy a flat surface for my Rock Band drums--and a flat surface for my couch--and a flat surface for my drink--now I have to buy *another* flat surface! Fuck you, Nintendo, and the flat surfaces you lay flat upon!

How does it sense it, though?
Is Mike Sylvester still around? Could he provide some insight into this?

Whoa. Screw "Let's Tap!", I want that box! I'm gonna go pre-order it now!

I have a feeling that a game like this makes much more sense to the Japanese. If you remember, there is a game in WarioWare where where you have to tap your sumo wrestler towards the other and push him out of the ring.
I think that this game is sort of based off of that old game which would probably make sense in Japanese culture, but confuse the rest of us.

Put it on a sponge and hey presto you have Let's hit!
Shiningmonk_e @ Oct 5th 2008 7:08PM
Why does everybody say it looks so gimmicky? Maybe a developer is deciding to do something creative and fun for a change...
Orion @ Oct 5th 2008 9:17PM
Yea really.
Not saying that this will be a great game, who honestly knows that right now? No one.
But I am very happy that someone out there is taking the time to make something that stands out enough to be getting our attention. I mean, honestly, if it was just another mini game compilation, would it be stealing the spotlight this easily next to so many titles like the Conduit which are more than eagerly expected by the general public? I doubt it.
milan @ Oct 5th 2008 7:34PM
I'd tap that.
ramuji @ Oct 5th 2008 8:45PM
Yeah, I'd tap that box.
