Reggie 'answers' questions about Disaster, Fatal Frame IV
Because it's not a Nintendo event if it isn't followed by "where's (Game X)" questions, Kombo cornered Reggie Fils-Aime at yesterday's conference and asked him about the status of North American versions of Disaster: Day of Crisis and Fatal Frame IV. While nobody expected concrete dates or even confirmation from Reggie's answers, he still managed to impart a bit of information.
Regarding Disaster: Nintendo of America is waiting to see how the game performs in Europe before making a decision. That means that we at least have to wait for a while after October 24 to hear anything.
As for Fatal Frame, he offered the following frustrating response: "you're going to have to contact the publisher for questions on that." So it might be coming out here -- just not from Nintendo, despite Nintendo of Japan publishing it. Who wants to start cold-calling publishers?*
*Note: Wii Fanboy does not encourage the cold-calling of publishers.

So, no disaster until they get European sales. Ok, that BS!!!!!!!
We have been loging for this game a lot of time, and they give us this!!!!
What the hell is Nintendo thinking!!!!!
Seems like they don't want our money

With the dollar in the shape its in, who would?

We may be in a troubling economic situation in NA, but Nintendo sold us over 600,00 Wii consoles in the first week of it's release. I STILL can't find a copy of Mario Kart or WiiFit, so it's not like we aren't buying Nintendo products like crazy.
NOA want's our money, that's a given. They just don't want to take the risk of releasing a 'core' title, only have it flop (due to a complete lack of advertisement on their part). So they make NOE the guinea pig and we get to 'wait and see.'

Oops. Missed a extra zero in there... supposed to be six hundred thousand.

That whole Playstation/Xbox ecosystem keeps them from pushing into your market any stronger. There is still a Wii shortage in the US while in Europe you can buy Wiis wherever you want with plenty of stock. Some of the major titles Nitendo tried to plug stayed behind the expectations because of their Eastern style (Zack & Wiki, No More Heroes). Imho their strategy is to keep the US customers flinching at every new announcement. Just wait a few more weeks, remember you got SSBB almost half a year earlier than Europe. This game can't possibly NOT be released in the US because it's one of the better looking and promising titles. I can't count any now but there are at least a few more game releases for Nintendo systems that arrive in the states long before Europe. This time it's the other way around. You'll just have to wait a while longer until the US version is announced. No doubt in my mind it will happen.

Ok, i didn't took in count that the dollar is having a heavy hit lately, but still, they can bring it over to Mexico (where I live). We are pretty strong ourselves, maybe not as strong as Europe, but still. Man, they are forcing me to download this game and wait for my import to come. Which as i'm seeing it, will be a PAL one

If you are going to start a movement to make a united front to demand these games, I recommend you focus on Fatal Frame first. It is the better of the two games.

So Nintendo isn't publishing Fatal Frame in North America? Yikes. With Tecmo in the shape its in, they won't start moving to localize it (or localize it at all, perhaps) until their merger goes through.
As for the Disaster thing, sucks too i suppose. Means its definitely not until 2009.

What?! Europe gets a much anticipated (by some) game before North America, and we don't even have a solid release date?
What kind of bizzaro world are we living in...
;)

There's no reason for you to rage over any of this, use homebrew region stuff and import them. I'm gonna say that again IMPORT THEM. I imported Fatal Frame IV and it was a fucking AWESOME decision.

HOLY ****, I can't take this bs talk anymore. Why does Nintendo hate North America so much, throw us a damn bone. Release Fatal Frame here already, poke the publisher with a prong. I mean the game will sell, what is the hold up? And DOA, we have to wait for Europe's release.. up until a few weeks ago we all thought the project is dead and now you can practically youtube a walkthrough of the game and you're still unsure about when to release it here!? I can't wait to get a nice pay cheque and buy a PS3, I'm getting tired of Nintendo holding out on us for no good apparent reason.

whats "cold calling"?

What you do after a failed attempt at phone sex.

I'm a europer and I'm going to buy it.

I think everyone should write Nintendo stating that they want these games. They do listen to us. They have already come right out and said that Sin & Punishment 2 is coming to the U.S. in large part due to the excellent Virtual Console sales of the original.
