Cammie Dunaway clears up Pikmin confusion
When Play on Wii was announced, we all wondered if this was the Pikmin that Shigeru Miyamoto talked about back at E3. According to Cammie Dunaway, it is not and Nintendo is in fact working on a brand new Pikmin game.
When asked about the confusion, Cammie said this Play on Wii game is "not the Pikmin that Mr. Miyamoto referred to" and that "Mr. Miyamoto referred to a new Pikmin, as opposed to the classics that are being rereleased on Wii." So, aside from selling us old games again, Nintendo also wants to sell us new games. Sounds good to us!

Now, quickly. Link this as fast as you can to all the people you know who bitched "Nintendo's trying to placate us by making us re-buy games we played 5 years ago!"
Quickly! Spam the Internet!

This is such sweet news. I was ok with the rereleases too since I never played Pikmin 2, but this is great! I'll get 2 new Pikmin games (in my perspective).

That's good news. That would've sucked if the only decent info I got out of E3 turned out to just be a gamecube port. I was also about to buy a used pikmin 2 copy at gamestop for $40 just because I want to play it so bad but now I can hold out for the superior wii version. Now, pardon me while I go watch the sin & punishment 2 trailer for the 100th time.

Whhhhhhheeeeeeewwwww...... Big sigh of relief. Apart from the Conference that just happened, The Pikmin announcement was the best thing to happen at E3 (even though it was a nonchalant mention) I am very happy to find out that we are getting a Brand New Pikmin!!

whew! thank god! i thought the new pikmin they were talking about was the GCN port! i'm guessing they hope to keep people happy with the ports till the games they announced are released. which (quite frankly) if you loved those titles and don't mind playing them again, then its not a bad idea. i know i wanna play starwars rouge leader: rouge squadron 2! :D

Honestly I never owned a gamecube so I'm probably 1 of the few that welcome the old games with new Wii controls. I LOVED Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, bring on all the old content you want Nintendo, there's definitely a market for it.

you said it buddy! there's definitely a market for them! why? here, i'll explain. when N64 was released it didn't do a good enough job of getting into the homes of many people thus making ninty lose TONS and TONS of money to the point that they almost went bankrupt. with whatever money they had they made the GAMECUBE but it also failed due to lack of 3rd party support (and also due to lack of sufficient online games). now that nintendo has sold a TREMENDEOUS amount of Wii's theres a whole new audience that haven't played the great (yet very few) hit titles made the GAMECUBE worth getting. so yeah, i'm definitely gonna be using this "play on Wii" feature that ninty has provided us with. :D
