Glad to know that it isn't much larger than a iPod Touch. I wonder how they compare in terms of thickness.

Not favorably. The iPod Touch is .33 inches, the DSi is .75 inches. Even the iPhone is thinner at .48 inches. I'm not entirely sure what to attribute the discrepancy towards, at first I thought it was the battery, but both devices come with a battery with roughly the same capacity.

The Joystiq comparison says "256×192" pixels on the DSi. That's the exact same dimensions as the DS. So that would mean that the resolution in dots per cm is actually lower!

My thoughts exactly. This would make sense though, other wise older DS games wouldn't be able to render in a new resolution. This means they are just stretching the existing resolution to fit the new expanded screen size.
