Oh, man. Listen,
Disaster: Day of Crisis is a game we've been waiting on for a long, long time. We like the idea. We like
what we've seen. We even like this video (showing off nine minutes of opening gameplay, including the intro movie), despite the questionable YouTube quality. It looks pretty decent and more than playable. We daresay it could even be
fun. But the dialogue is a little
lacking.
Okay. Let's get real: it's repetitive, unrealistic, and silly. But hey, we're used to less-than-stellar game writing, and
Disaster has one thing going for it at the start: a hero with an indestructible noggin -- and that's all any action game really needs, right?
[Thanks, Alex!]

They should just go with it and turn it into an action movie of ridiculous cliches. Think "True Lies".

Since when do any Nintendo games have a intricate story? (Metroid Prime and Fire Emblem not included) Zelda is as deep as they get, so why should this surprise anyone. The emphasis has always been on gameplay with Nintendo.

You can't make a statement like "Since when do any Nintendo games have a intricate story?" and then proceed to list Nintendo games that do have an intricate story, but say they don't count.
It's almost as bad as the people who say Nintendo doesn't have any hardcore games because games like Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, etc. don't count for some reason.
You can make any point in the world when you don't count all the things that counter it.

I didn't find it repetitive. Though I have seen some gameplay videos where it does get a bit repetitive.
I actually liked that. The game looks really good.

I don't mind the dialogue, but I can't stand the constipated grunts he makes when he jumps or does any other kind of action. I dunno, for some reason it sounds really irritating. Oh well, the game still looks kind of fun though.

I'm quite impressed with this game. The graphics look amazing for a Wii game, and while the dialog isn't the greatest the gameplay looks pretty good. Looks I may be adding this on my list of games to buy.

I'm about two hours into Disaster so far, and I must say that the dialogue in some scenes is pretty bad and overly melodramatic. It is a bit disappointing, because it seems the game is trying to take itself so seriously. Otherwise, it would have been easy enough to just laugh it off.

Besides the bad dialogue, how is the gampeplay? I'll probably pick it up, but can't really figure out what you'll be doing most of the time.

Not bad, not bad at all, really. Though my favorite show is SWAT Kats, so i may be more tolerant of cheesy action-show dialogue than most
Kinda reminded me of it, though, especially the banter between Ray and Steve.
KeegdnaB @ Sep 25th 2008 12:47PM
I think its safe to say that the dialogue, while not spectacular, could be ALOT worse, and in the end I don't think its gonna make much of a difference in the end cause the game itself keeps looking better and better to me.
Its funny for as little as Nintendo has actually talked about it, how much attention its gotten as a result. Maybe they're testing a new marketing strategy: hype without hype...don't say a word and the buzz happens on its own.

I know, it's amazing how quickly this game rebounded in favor with me, too. After the wave of "OMG waggle QTE's wtf?" that swept over everyone a few weeks back, it's amazing how Nintendo has managed to restore my confidence in this game
Plus i think that opening sequence looks beautiful. Poly count is a bit low, but the textures and lighting are breathtaking, imo.

Can someone post a link to this mine doesn't play

Since the video that showed Ray saying: "let's dance" before fighting with the bad guy I knew the game had horrible dialouge. RE4 had horrible dialouge but is awesome, let's hope the case is the same here.
