Wii Warm Up: Don't you just hate that?

The Wii, for the awesome system that it is, isn't without its faults. There are those things about the console that just make us want to write an angry letter, place it into an envelope, apply proper postage and send it to Nintendo. Having to turn on the Wiimote to exit back to the Wii Menu from a GameCube game? Lame. Not saving our credit card information so that every time we want to purchase Wii Points, we have to go through a process that takes several minutes? Come on (cut us a break on that one, we do download a lot of VC games)!What ticks you off most? Lack of a storage option (that's a popular one)? Lack of hard core games (another popular one)? Just how quick those Wiimotes eat up AA batteries?

You do know the wii remote doesn't work at all during gamecube games right? You're must be thinking of wii games that are gamecube controller compatible.

He's referring to playing a Gamecube game and then not being able to exit out of it like a Wii or VC game. Actually, I didn't know you could turn on a Wiimote to get out of one - I've always just turned off the Wii and turned it back on (like I did with my Gamecube).

You USED to be able to do that, though. I have a launch Wii and I KNOW I could get out of GC games using the Wiimote.
But they removed the functionality in a system update for some stupid reason.

I hate the fact that developers are ignoring the Wii's awesome potential for games with actual depth. We're getting The Conduit, which even though it's not THAT original in concept, looks like it will have depth and be better than most shooters out there. D:DoC looks good as well, but the fact remains that when 3rd parties look at making a Wii game, the first thing they always think is 'Party Game with ridiculous amounts of gimmicky waggle.' It's annoying, frankly.

Hmm, I don't think you can get back to the Wii menu once it's in Gamecube mode...
Personally I can't stand all the warning screens about reading the manual EVERYTIME I turn the machine on and then EVERYTIME I start a game. I don't need to use the wrist strap or the condom and I don't want to thanks. Plus, if I want to hit people or vases while playing Wario Ware, then that's my right.

1. No Hard Drive.
2. Nintendo's recent lack of classic 1st Party franchise games - No Kid Icarus, Star Fox, F-Zero, Pikmin, Punch Out, Kirby, Waverace, Excitebike, Startropics or even a Pokemon game to keep us die hard Nintendo fans at bay for at least a year.
3. The so-called "hardcore" gamers slamming on the Wii saying there are no hardcore games but let great games like No More Heroes, Zack and Wiki, and Okami fail on thier launch dates.
4. Actually set dates for Virtual Console games. I've been saving some Wii points for Earthworm Jim for months with little to sign of it being released anytime soon.
5. Killing the Free Loader program so I can no longer play Japanese games.

I hate the fact that there's so many Peripherals for the Wii. I have so much plastic "Stuff", I don't know where to put it all. I've never had a system that's had so many Peripherals. That would be my only complaint. Trying to make too much money off of extras. (7 Steering Wheels, 3 Guns, 4 wii remotes, 4 nunchucks, 1 balance board, 2 guitars, 4 remote charger, rechargeable battary pack for balance board, 2 classic controlers).

Ok. I bought 3 Wii Wheels on Black Friday of 2007 trying to get ready for MK to come out. Figured I'd already have 3, and when the game came out with the one in the box, I would have 4. Well, when the game comes out, my wife looks at the new wii wheel and the 3 "old" wii wheels and says she wants 3 more of the new wii wheels because they "Look and feel better". So, I got 3 more of the white wii wheels. And I like the older wii wheels because they weigh a little more than the white wheels and I've been using those since NFS came out on Wii.

I'm annoyed that the wiimote + nunchuck doesn't satisfy all of my controller needs. Don't get me wrong, it's my favorite controller at the moment, but they should have made it button comparable to the gamecube controller and then allowed its use in any gamecube or virtual console game. That alone would eliminate a ton of peripherals, and most of the other first party peripherals are completely optional (wheel, zapper, etc).
I'm also annoyed with friend codes. Not friend codes themselves, because I haven't really had to use them, but the thought behind friend codes. The Wii should have had a user account system like the other consoles. I think that's safer from a parental control standpoint than friend codes, and its also much more useful.

1. Mandatory direct pairing through Friend Codes
2. Incredibly slow shop software (at least whenever I try it it's unbelievably unresponsive and nothing is cached to speed that up)
3. Useless "My Nintendo" channel: has no useful or up to date info whatsoever at least here in Germany. The user rating of games is ridiculous with it's strict definition of age and gender association for certain games.
4. Still no official battery pack for the controllers
5. News/Weather channel can't be accessed unless you grant standby connection, can't the darned thing parse the data when I log on? What does it need to be online for that all the time?
6. Too many peripherals/future hardware updates I'm going to buy the Motion+ but if anything after that shows up I doubt I'll spend that money too. The current abilities aren't even properly used by games most of the time so why would I buy yet another hardware revision.
7. Not enough casual games: You heard me right. Only when there are more casual games that deliver easy profits to the developers can there be an opportunity to have some better more mature games. So get people to buy casual games, sure as hell I ain't doing it.
8. Too many haters, so far the best selling system and Wii owners still have to take the crap from other people whose console is off to repair and they have nothing better to do or there is another game to be installed to the harddrive so they spend the waiting time pissing people off, people like me. I got a dozen games for the Wii and had some good fun with it but I'm starting to lack confidence if there'll be a killer app soon. I hope D:DoC delivers and Conduit and Cursed Mountain too. If one of these blows it could be over for the serious gaming on the Wii. I don't know if I can have the thing sitting in a corner fetching dust until the next Zelda comes out. That better be soon.

I agree with all who mentioned the Wii haters. What an irritating group of sac-itches.
Anyway:
1) Lack of hard drive.
...seriously...I had to delete TWO channels to fit Mega Man 9! WTF! This has officially gotten out of hand, Nintendo!
2) Nintendo's secrecy. As a fan, I find it exceptionally annoying.
3) Nintendo's new release/hype policy...because waiting 6 weeks from announcement to being able to own the game actually kinda sucks.
4) Not saving my CC info on the Shop channel.
5) Having to reboot the hardware every time you go back to the menu.
6) Third party games...'nuff said.
6a) Ubisoft
7) WiiWare borderline sucks.
I was expecting great things from it when it was first announced, but so far, it's been mostly a letdown for various reasons. Mostly because it's becoming a dumping ground for shitty puzzle games.
8) Friend Codes...they really DO suck, doubly so when compared to the available alternatives.
9) Not enough games use the system's features.
...I mean, why is it that 2 years later, Excite Truck is STILL the only game that lets me customize the soundtrack? NiGHTS is one of, like, 2 games that uses the weather channel.
10) Ports. Two years after launch and they STILL keep coming. Thanks, Capcom...we really needed ANOTHER RE port.
11) Nintendo needs to get get some exclusives from third parties that don't suck. Monster Hunter 3 is a nice feather, but worthless for those of us not in Japan. Ditto TvC (which I'll be importing). They're making record amounts of money...time to bust out the ol' wallet and get some major firepower.

In Japan, Wii seems to be accepted as a legitimate console by the culture, the users, the development community, etc, so you see a much more "hardcore" wii in Japan, like that awesome August lineup of Fatal Frame IV, Wario Land, and Captain Rainbow, while we got to twiddle our thumbs and play some Sluggers maybe over here
Nintendo of America themselves seem to treat it as a much more casual affair, which led (in part) to the disaster of E3, the good Western developers with enough funding to roll on PS360 see the Wii as a step backwards
So really, good 3rd party Japanese exclusives are all that's likely to come along. That and Nintendo's lethargic approach to 3rd parties in general. They're not out there, actively encouraging the 3rd party support, their approach more seems to be like "They've got our number, they'll call us when they want to"

Region coding the system in the first place. Just the fact that Nintendo can't keep Homebrew from enabling import games should be reason enough to get rid of the region codes in the next patch. I really don't think it does anything to "stop piracy", and even if it did impact piracy, there's always someone inventing ways around it.
Another thing, although not as irritating, is the way first party games never drop in price. I mean, WarioWare is fun, but is it worth $50 a year and a half after its release?

I really think that Nintendo needs to get its shit together when it comes to that. Many high-selling games that they could repackage and start promoting again as Player's Choice
In a lot of ways, it seems like Nintendo themselves don't have a strategy, that they're just kinda playing it by ear, which does hurt the platform in the long run.

It bothers me that you can't use a GameCube controller to navigate the channel menu. When I'm playing Brawl, I don't want to keep a Wiimote next to me just so I can select the disc channel.

My issue is not being able to try demo the games from the Wii shopping channel. That is one nice thing about the Xbox 360, but other than that Wii is fun to play.

1. Storage. And even that wouldn't be as annoying as it is if the Wii didn't have the SD card slot sitting there doing nothing.
2. Lazy developers. Even going by the GCN 1.5 argument, lots of games look worse than PSP games.

the only real gripe i have is the sheer loudness of the menu... whenever i switch over to the wii from a different system/tv the menu is SO LOUD that i constantly has me jumping up to adjust the volume... even if i plan for it, as soon as i start a game i have to turn it up to hear the game music... just not enough thought put into the overall system volume.

1.) Overheating/console glitches-- it shouldn't take 6 resets to get even the most basic games working, and obviously the system has heating issues(also I'm too cheap to purchase a cooling system).
2.) Storage. At least give us a faster, easier interface to swap data to and from console to card. If possible, an update to the card size recognition limit?
3.) Friend Codes. Even blind drunk, I'm sure I know who I'm adding. Make the bloody thing optional, like any parental guide(which means the 3-4 pages of warnings from power-on to game start shouldn't need to be there).
4.) Updates/patches to VC/console titles-- give us a page on the Shop, at least. Yeah, they're rare, but that doesn't mean I should have to dig through lists just because a correction to a glaring issue was made and I need or want it.
5.) Easier credit card input. Either let me allow the console to remember my data(save for maybe something short like security code), or at least let me switch to keypad mode.
6.) Lack of third-party promotion. I don't care if they're not your titles, they're on your console and you desperately need the business. Part of the reason the PS1 nailed a lot of business was because of Sony's clever advertising, and lots of it(I doubt Takara did most of their own advertising with Battle Arena Toshinden, for example). Don't be afraid to push something like Madworld. And especially forget not just how big Katamari got on word-of-mouth alone. Americans like fruity, inexplicable games now. We'll even take humor we can't possibly get in our own language.

1. what sucks is that the Wii doesn't have enough internal memory which is only 16Mb.we all want more memory at least a 1G or 2 possibly right guys.
2. I personaly just want another Zelda game to come out very soon.
3.Nintendo has to make more Arcade shooting games with some blood our goor. And lower the price of the VC games because there really high. Like the PS3 and Xbox 360, Nintendo should have some Demos for the games that are coming out for the Wii.
I heard that the PS3 is coming out with a games that called ''HOME'' I've seen the gameplay and it is magnificent how u can interact with people that have the game. Anyways that should be another goal that Nintendo needs to take care of make a game just or as close to ''HOME''.

Nintendo not showing us some love: We, the customers make your system a success. Underpowered as it may be we love it whimsical charms. Yet, we hate how you ignore the one true demographic, the fans. The fans have put with the friends codes and lack of storage. Yet when we ask for good 3rd party games, you give us "Chicken Shoot". When ask for good first party games, you give us Wii Music. I'm not saying Wii Music will be bad, but it isn't a main draw by itself. It is like being in a loveless relationship, in time people will move on.
A lack of good content: Sometimes, you don't want to play a game, you just want to chill in the menus and do stuff. Where is that? Everybody Votes is great only for a month then that gets boring. Check Mii Out is only for those who have alot time on their hands and unholy love for Miis. News/Weather is only useful after you have played a game, they are worth booting your system for it. Where are the other channels? It has been a year and a half, only 4 new channels. We need more content, Nintendo.
No Player's Choice collection: 360 has them, PS3 has them, why doesn't Nintendo. Do you wanna buy Warioware: Smooth Moves for 50 bucks? What about Twilight Princess? This should have been the announcement to calm the angry masses. Cheaper games tend to have a soothing effect on the fanboy. Yet, left out again. Well there is always the Kmart clearance rack, I suppose.

Lack of LAN play. Like the original XBox had. I have good memories of hooking up 4 or more XBoxes to a hub and playing some killer Halo and Project Gotham.
The Wii is a great size to take over to a friend's house, but there's no reason.
Oh, and friend codes suck, too.
