i am completely underwhelmed.
AMB @ Sep 15th 2008 8:35AM
I'll 2nd that. Too much rubbish on that list.
KIMP @ Sep 12th 2008 7:03PM
Awesome!
Cant wait for this one!
Which date is it coming out?
Moleculo @ Sep 12th 2008 7:14PM
Oct. 26 (in the U.S.)
mike @ Sep 12th 2008 5:16PM
so....beautiful.....should've.....sent for a poet...
Matisyahu Serious @ Sep 12th 2008 7:13PM
misquoted, but beautifully said.
Garst @ Sep 12th 2008 5:17PM
Anyone else think they added "La Bamba" only to offset the volume of rock songs in the game?
bc @ Sep 12th 2008 5:32PM
David,
Just to confirm - these are ON-DISC songs only (i.e. do NOT include DLC, which Wii may/may not get?). If just on-disc, wow - that's a lot. Seems like a lot more than GH3. 4 Tool songs? My wife will flip.
David Hinkle @ Sep 12th 2008 6:04PM
Uh, the title of the post says "on-disc." I thought I was clear on that.
Sorry if I wasn't!
sn1per @ Sep 12th 2008 6:42PM
3 tool songs, not 4. Still though, there's only 2-3 tracks from Rock Band that I really wish were in GH:WT, but like Moleculo said, Harnonix's botched Wii release of RB means a) I can't trust them till after RB2 comes out, and b) I've already got one GH guitar, that I couldn't use with RB2. So I guess GH:WT it is. Of course, I don't know how I can justify nearly $200 for a game, when I only spent 250 on the system. Maybe I'll wait a couple months for it to drop down to 100. (And by that point, I can also see if Harmonix made the Wii version of RB2 properly).
Roto13 @ Sep 13th 2008 8:46AM
1) It specifically states on-disc, and 2) the Wii version was confirmed to be getting DLC months ago.
Go1denchi1d @ Sep 12th 2008 5:32PM
Not bad...there are a few songs I cant wait to play!
bc @ Sep 12th 2008 5:36PM
Whoops, 2 other questions:
-I assume (but haven't seen) you can play with as many or few instruments as you want - incl. just solo with 1 guitar? I have 2 GH3 guitars & want to buy just the game itself - for starters;
-Think they'll sell the drums separately (without having to buy the whole thing)?
Moleculo @ Sep 12th 2008 5:41PM
At release your options -- I think -- are full bundle (game, one guitar, drums), game + guitar bundle or game only. Drums should be sold separately, but not for a while after the release, they'd rather sell you the whole thing.
Moleculo @ Sep 12th 2008 5:38PM
Pretty happy with this. Only RB2 tracks I'm left jealous of are "Aqualung" and "Teenage Riot". And since I can't trust them to make a respectable product for the Wii and I already have a GH3 guitar, GHWT it is.
Really wish Nintendo would've forced instrument compatibility though, or that someone would come up with a hack to fix that.
Roto13 @ Sep 13th 2008 8:48AM
That's the only reason I'm getting the PS3 version, really. Well, that and you can be sure Rock Band 2 for Wii will be gimped, so even if the instruments were compatible, it'd still be Harmonix being lazy again.
Supercool4 @ Sep 12th 2008 5:39PM
can somebody tell me what the hell is the point of putting in live versions of songs?
Moleculo @ Sep 12th 2008 5:43PM
Original masters of the studio versions might not be useable? Or could be a rights issue -- "Demolition Man" in the game is a live version credited to Sting only rather than the studio cut by the Police, maybe they couldn't get/wouldn't pay more for the Police version.
Larson @ Sep 12th 2008 6:13PM
In the case of "Purple Haze" (and maybe the others) the live version of the song is the definitive/best version and the one that most people associate with it. Also, I believe those live versions will have extended guitar solos, not found on the master versions.
I love this song list!! (Especially seeing 311 at the top of it!! My favorite band.)
ZombiePikmin @ Sep 12th 2008 6:07PM
Wow this and Wii Music in one month. . . its official October is now Music Month, And that tracklist is fantastic
gayboyDS @ Sep 12th 2008 6:17PM
What? No ABBA???
ChibiKawase @ Sep 13th 2008 12:41AM
Like the emo and pop-rock bands aren't horrible enough? D:
Ryfu @ Sep 12th 2008 6:20PM
What happened to everyone's theory that the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be in this? I loe speculation and fanboys....
Roto13 @ Sep 13th 2008 8:49AM
They're getting a whole album as DLC
psyborg @ Sep 12th 2008 7:01PM
About half of it is amazing and half of it is horrible.
RasenganFury @ Sep 12th 2008 7:15PM
Notice the pay to play wifi symbol. Looks like this will be getting dlc after all.
bug frawg @ Sep 13th 2008 8:42AM

Gaph2000 @ Sep 12th 2008 7:21PM
@ the picture:
What happened to that other secret peripheral? Was it announced and I didn't relize it?
nowayx @ Sep 12th 2008 8:14PM
Same thing here, I have GH3 + 2 guitars.. I will have to stick with GHWT no matter what. (Even if the list wasnt that great...).
But, RB2 will have Guns N' Roses (exclusive song?) and AC/DC... I would to play AC/DC! :-( Too bad guitars are not compatible!!!! @%@#$#$

Damn I'm so excited.
I almost shit myself when I saw ATDI and TMV on there.
They must really like Cedric Bixler-Zavala, huh?
I'm so gonna get this.
deaddays @ Sep 15th 2008 11:52AM
Woah! My DAD would really like this playlist... and I'm 27!!!
Sorry folks, but for my money, RockBand2 has a WAAAAAAY better (not to mention hipper) playlist. I like classic rock, but it doesn't meat I wanna pretend to be a in a classic rock band.
When I play air guitar, I pretent I'm a cool current band with hot groupies, not a revival band of Creedence (even though I love Creedence) with rabbid 53 year old women throwing their panties at me.
I know Rock Band has a bunch of classic rock songs too, but c'mon, this seems like it's about 70% old stuff.
Kaythanksbye2 @ Sep 15th 2008 7:21PM
No Weezer or The Killers? and how about Panic at the Disco? Rock Band 2 got Nine in the Afternoon! Sigh...guess I'll have to wait and see what DLC brings...
JF @ Sep 15th 2008 10:31PM
No AC/DC = -1
Metallica = +1
Ted Nugent/Stranglehold = +10
