Nintendo says 'No E for us'
Last year, Nintendo was a major exhibitor at the fledgling E for All Expo. If you were headed to this year's show (which takes place October 3-5) for a look at, say, Wii Music or Animal Crossing or a surprise announcement of Fatal Frame IV or something, don't bother, because Nintendo won't be there. GoNintendo received a message from Nintendo PR stating that E for All "did not fit into our plans for the year." Our guess is that they only planned to attend events that other companies (and people) would also attend. Can E for All survive a Nintendo-free show? Could they have survived if Nintendo had agreed to attend?

They sucked at the last E, so I don't see that as a loss.

Actually, from what I heard they had a pretty good showing, especially since Microsoft and Sony weren't there.

Only Microsoft and EA had confirmed to come to that, right? Nintendo and 2K were maybes, and Nintendo dropped
I mean, it'd have been one helluva stark show anyway. Looks like it was doomed for the start.

PAX is the new E3 of old. I can't imagine E for All lasting another year or so, with or without Nintendo.
Sonic_13 @ Sep 13th 2008 12:51AM
Without any of the big three companies, then it really doesn't have a chance of surviving.

I'm feeling like Nintendo is completely abandoning hard-core gamers, and has nothing to show them at this year's E....

Sigh. . . .

I quite like how those articles are written, my only concern is that the writer seems to think that "new" ideas are good by definition, and that the industry was fundamentally flawed as it was.

Well, yeah I don't agree with him 100% of the time. I'm a bit concerned with the way that he seems to condemn all games that are more traditional. Certainly we can't throw Zelda games with their obsession over play control into the same boat with the games that "mistake obstacles for art". But it's still an interesting read and helps dispel a few myths.
If you go to the "Disruption Chronicles" section and read "Birdmen and the Casual Fallacy" it talks about upstreaming and how the higher-tier games may not be entirely lost.

I don't know but in the end I am sick of all these game shows and conferences coming and going. There needs to a one for industry only and there needs to be one for the fans, period. I go to comic conventions, I go to sci-fi conventions...why cant we have a decent video game conventions to celebrate what we all love?
