Wii Warm Up: Tecmoei
It looks like Tecmo and Koei are going to be BFF (and also Tecmo needs a bunch of money). Both companies will probably keep their normal franchises as they are -- Koei's unlikely to make any changes to the streamlined, probably automated Dynasty Warriors production process, and Tecmo will keep making horse racing games and the occasional "prestige" fighting or action game as always. But there is the possibility that the merger could change some stuff up! Square didn't really become a Final Fantasy spinoff factory until the Enix merger. Do you think this is a good move? Would you like to see one company's influence on another? Perhaps a Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball game with really detailed statistics?

I'd call it more Tec-moe, because they're both Japanese and create such creepily-cute characters.

The idea of Ryu Hayabusa and some DoA Bosses in Dynasty Warriors as secret character sound OK to me, but on the other hand, more playtesting is always preferred over gimmick cameos.
As for the planed Tecmo-Koei merger, it's fine with me. Both companies are far from my favorites, but they both bring good games and I see why people can totally be into Ninja Gaiden or Dynasty Warriors. Koei also brought many other strategy games and RPGs (Gust!) to PAL regions, so I really respect the company.
I'm glad Tecmo decided against Square Enix, seeing how much Taito got worse after becoming part of SE (Ray series died, Darius series died, Bust-a-Move became boring). It might just be a coincidence, but we'll never know for sure.

After reading and thinking of Ryu Hayabusa as a DW character, I started expanding on that and it comes down to this: Lu Bu has some serious competition if Ryu is ever introduced, even as a secret character.

Really don't know of or care much for Koei, but as long as it keeps Tecmo alive, i'll be happy

I get kinda' sad that most people only think of Koei as "Dynasty Warriors"... since I think that game was awful, even when it first came out.
I mean "Romance"? "Winback"? "Kessen" (at least part III)? None of those? Those were some awesome games.
Ah well... I only REALLY like Tecmo for Monster Rancher. All their other games are pretty good, but not amazing.
I find that this merger's pretty coo.

Hi I am hardcore PS3 Fanboy and I consider buying Wii for games like RE:UC Dragon Quset and FF.
Is Wii worth the money ?
Thanks for help.
SoshiKitai @ Sep 7th 2008 12:16PM
Considering how the Wii is barely worth as much as a PS3 is... and also considering how the Wii is a great compliment to every system, with a select few games that you'll want to get, with a great selection of upcoming games to wait for :: yeah, it's worth the money.
But if you want to go on a Wii shopping spree (get the most games within the time limit) wait until the end of this year, the following months will be amazing.
Just make sure you can transition well from TOP POWERS-megacenters of the PS3, down to MOTION CONTROL-supermarkets of the Wii.
It's worth the purchase, but wait a little longer - so you don't get too antsy for new games.

Wait, so Tecmo can still make Team Ninja games like Ninja Gaiden/ Dead or Alive without Itagaki there?
Buntaro @ Sep 8th 2008 3:12AM
To my knowledge, Itagaki didn't take the rights with him or banned them from doing further games via a some order of the court.
Other companies managed to greate good or better sequels without the involvement of the original producer, so it should be a possibility.
