ScummVM now has limited GameCube and Wii support
The homebrew community is the best. Not only have they allowed us to do things that we never thought possible on the Wii (like play GoldenEye 007 and watch our favorite movies), but now they're hard at work coming up with ways for us to enjoy classic point-and-click adventure games on the platform. While we won't be able to, say, play Sam & Max Hit the Road yet, the current release (version 0.12.0) has support for 5 games. These include:- The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Two: Hand of Fate
- The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Three: Malcolm's Revenge
- Lost in Time
- The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble
- Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back

Unless I'm misreading, the five games listed are newly added to this release. All prior ScummVM releases should be compatible with the Wii version.
CubeGuy @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:24PM
Yeah... I'm pretty sure that he never released that GE64 tool.
Tiago @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:31PM
You are wrong... This release has added support for these 5 games, but it also supports a lot of games, including a lot of classics from LucasArts. I've been playing Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and Broken Sword the whole weekend... It is not 100% stable, but it surely does the job. Take a look at:
http://www.scummvm.org/ to see the list of supported games!
misfit410 @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:38PM
Yea, that is games added, it already supports Sam and Max, Full Throttle, Monkey Island, the works..
viva la homebrew!!

I so want to participate in the awesome homebrew scene, but I'm terrified of bricking my Wii. I can't afford to buy another, and I waited in line in the cold for mine for launch. It has sentimental value.
flameofdoom666 @ Sep 2nd 2008 9:21PM
I am in the same exact situation! (Mine is a launch Wii too!)
BlackDogAssault @ Sep 2nd 2008 9:49PM
If you don't do things like an idiot (namely, not knowing what you're doing because you didn't read tutorials - yes, read more than one if you're that afraid - enough), there's no big risk involved. It doesn't deal with things like the system menu, it just installs a channel, so the risk is very, very, very low.
xxgoldxx @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:23PM
I am too but along with that does it affect say online play (Mario Kart or brawl)? Like if nintendo was to know they would brick your system or something along those lines?
(I dont know if that is clear)

Urgh I was playing Sam & Max Hit the Road on my wii months back. The 5 games listed are merely the newest confirmed as supported by the current ScummVM build across all platforms (which reminds me I really need to update my PDA's version so I can play woodruff and the Schnibble agian).
FYIan @ Sep 2nd 2008 9:03PM
Yeah, I've got Secret of Monkey Island on my Wii right now. I love that game so much.
FYIan @ Sep 2nd 2008 9:04PM
Bleh, I meant the CURSE of Monkey Island, but, you know, the Secret works fine, too.
Nathew @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:20PM
umm... this reads like this is some sort of new development. i've had scummvm on my SD card for months now, and have been able to play games such as sam and max, the dig, and day of the tentacle on my wii.
andy @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:29PM
Yeah this article seems wildly inaccurate. Am I reading something wrong? I've been playing sam and max, day of the tentacle, and fate of atlantis for months on my wii with ScummVM. In fact when I downloaded the homebrew channel it came with ScummVM and it was already capable of running theses games.
TX2 @ Sep 3rd 2008 1:25AM
Can I safely call the homebrew community 4th party support?
misfit410 @ Sep 3rd 2008 12:50PM
TX2 you can call them second party, they put more effort into their work than most third parties do, so they deserve a bump up the list.
Tanas @ Sep 3rd 2008 1:03PM
Probably you should update the article with correction that those are newly supported games by scummvm. As others pointed, wii port has full support for all the games you can play through scummvm on pc (including Sam and Max).
ChaoticTails @ Sep 3rd 2008 4:36PM
Um, this is wrong. ScummVM has been available for Wii and Gamecube forever, and I played Sam and Max Hit the Road on my console through the homebrew channel. I don't know where you guys have been this whole time, but most of your ScummVM information is wrong- maybe you should check before posting it on one of the most trusted Nintendo Wii news websites on the web?
Deozaan @ Sep 6th 2008 11:36PM
I beat Monkey Island on ScummVM on my Wii months ago!
