Wii Music offers new opportunities for 'This one time, at band camp' stories
Wii Music won't only help you re-imagine yourself in a rock band; it will also enable you to live out your dream of playing in a marching band! Remember how you used to envy all the geeks performing during half-time shows at high school football games? Now you, too, can be one of them!
Nintendo also introduced two instruments with demonstration videos over the holiday weekend -- the violin, piano, and guitar. Unfortunately, it's hard to relate any of those music devices to band camp. Still, you can check out videos for them past the post break!

I gotta say, this game looks really stupid.

I'm SO looking forward to this game. How dorky am I?
Honestly, I'm not really a "hardcore" gamer. I'm not exactly "casual," either. I play games and non-games alike. I hate me some violence, yet there's total satisfaction in beating up beloved Nintendo characters (and I've never actually played Brawl...that's pretty sad).

I really don't appreciate that stab at people in band at all. Last time I checked, being on the drumline is awesome, not geeky.

I second that. I really really resent the stab at marching band. It's a very competitive sport (see: www.dci.org).

People who write video game blogs for a living would suggest that maybe it's not so bad to do something geeky.

Hate to break it to you, but unless your band is really, really good, you're geeky if you're on it. Even then, unless you're on the drumline and darn good at it, you're still pretty geeky.

I just can't see a reason to play it. I'm a muscian and I find Rock Band a little awkward. It's half way between my two great loves and satisfies neither. I get more satisfaction from playing the songs on an actual guitar or with an actual band. This looks even worse, why would I essentially watch a small version of myself play an instrument roughly in time t my movements?
TWOO DEE @ Sep 1st 2008 6:04PM
because you don't own half of the instruments Wii music plans to include in the software?
you either love this and can't wait to fuck around with some instruments or don't care for it and prefer 'substance' in your music 'games' (read: guitar hero or rock band)
i, personally, can't wait to fuck around with this ;)

Wii Music still looks like rubbish to me!

As a devoted marching geek and accomplished music gamer, this will be the greatest thing ever (especially when complimented by Major Minor)
Now if I could just get Wii Fit before it comes out so I have a balance board for the drums.
