Rumor: A third Wii lightsaber game, with MotionPlus this time

We were a little puzzled when LucasArts introduced Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels before the release of The Force Unleashed on Wii, whose major selling point was ... an exclusive lightsaber duel mode. It seemed as if we were being told to disregard that first game that wasn't out yet, because the real thing was on the way. Well, if this rumor is true, get ready to disregard the second game as well.

According to EGM's "Quartermann" gossip column, a grumbling LucasArts is returning to the drawing board for another Wii lightsaber game, this time designed for MotionPlus. This potential game is rumored to be out sometime next year. If this is real, LucasArts would be smart not to talk about it until they've sold at least one copy of the two existing lightsaber games.

This makes perfect sense.

Force Unleashed is more about the single player campaign, Clone Wars plays more like Soul Calibur, and this third game will (hopefully) play like the sword fighting in Wii Sports Resort (camera at the back, full one to one motion control).

All three can co-exists peacefully.

Anyway, 'll be still getting a copy of bout games for Wii of course, and maybe one of force unleashed for PS3 when it comes down to $20 or so

I agree. It makes Force Unleashed lose its Wii exclusive potential, but doesn't really harm it as a game, since the Force controls are the bigger focus, and Clone Wars is almost a fighting game

a 1:1 duel game would, like jan_halmes said, have the same perspective as Wii Boxing or Resort's swordfighting

If the new game is something like the old Jedi Knight games for the PC, but for the Wii using MotionPlus, that would be awesome.

I'll most likely be getting Force Unleashed for the story - while the multiplayer is nice, I'm not that into it. I'm still undecided on Clone Wars...I've never been a huge fan of fighting games, but this is lightsaber dueling, so I'm probably going to wait for the reviews of that one.
